Chapter 7 

“My resignation was approved by you,” I said calmly. 

“Impossible! I don’t remember ever allowing you to quit!” Harley’s expression grew increasingly panicked. 

He immediately began searching for the resignation records. I watched him with quiet composure. I wasn’t surprised at all–just amused. What could he possibly remember? 

Aside from worrying whether Megan had a place to stay, whether she was eating well, whether she was getting enough rest… he never remembered anything else. He didn’t remember that I had resigned. He didn’t remember the pain of abandonment he caused me. And he certainly didn’t remember how hard I worked–how much I sacrificed–for every project. 

Harley wasn’t panicking because I left. He was panicking because now there was no one to clean up his messes. 

In his world, once this crisis passed, he’d simply return to normal. He’d continue flirting with Megan, continue helping her steal my projects, and continue turning a blind eye while everyone else mocked and mistreated me. 

Finally, Harley found the record. When he saw my name listed as the applicant, his eyes widened in disbelief, and he stumbled two steps back. 

He cursed under his breath. “Who allowed you to hand in your resignation? Don’t they know what kind of relationship we have?” 

He flew into a rage and called the company. The call connected quickly, and before the person could say anything, Harley exploded on them. “Did you even confirm with me before letting Tiana Lancaster resign? Who gave you the authority to make that decision?” 

“But Mr. Sinclair, didn’t you say-

“What did I say? Did I say to fire her? She’s my wife. Don’t you know that? 

“What the hell are you doing? Have you forgotten 

your boss is? 

“Get out of my company. Don’t ever let me see your face again!”
