Nodding in response, Gerald then began following them while casually asking, “So, how did all of you know I was coming over?”

“I’m just an ordinary soldier so I can’t answer that,” replied the soldier without the slightest hesitation, making it clear that he had undergone plenty of mental fortification training.

“I see,” replied Gerald, understanding that he wasn’t going to get much out of these people.

With that, the group walked for about ten more minutes before finally arriving at the office of Yanam’s maritime forces where Carter stood waiting for them…

Upon seeing him, Gerald couldn’t help but chuckle. After all, Gerald knew for a fact that Carter was a coward who nearly wet himself when he was being kidnapped back then. Feeling a chill run down his spine, Carter fought the urge to flee before gesturing for the men—surrounding Gerald—to leave as he said, “Leave us be.”

Hearing that, the soldiers gave a salute before leaving the office.

The second they were gone, Carter quickly closed the door. Gulping as he walked toward Gerald and handed him a cigarette, Carter then said, “Um… So… Why exactly have you returned, Gerald…? I-If there’s anything or anyone you need, just say the word and I’ll help obtain them for you…!”

Lighting the cigarette before sitting on the couch, Gerald then crossed his legs before replying, “I’m not looking for anyone or anything.”
