Theo looked grim, and he had a hint of sarcasm in his eyes. “Ms. Mendoza, you may not care about your own life, but please don’t joke around with your unborn child!” 

Ellinor arrogantly pulled away from his grasp. “Mr. Blanchet, aren’t you a bit too worried? I’ve never heard that eating a carrot can harm a child!” 

Theo withdrew his hand; his icy gaze made him look like he was seemingly trying to see through her. 

Ellinor didn’t like the way he was looking at her; she got up and said, “Excuse me, I’m not feeling well, I need to use the restroom. 

Without waiting for anyone’s response, she left the dining table. 

After watching Ellinor’s retreating figure, Belinda turned her head towards her uncle. 

“Uncle, what were you doing just now? You upset Ellinor!” 

Theo remained silent, squinting his eyes at the sight of Ellinor’s retreating figure, not saying a word. 

Because of her pregnancy, Ellinor walked slowly. Before she could reach the restroom, she bumped into Veronica and Marissa, “Grandma, look, it’s really Ellinor!” Veronica, holding onto her grandmother’s arm, exclaimed excitedly. 

Ellinor stopped when she heard her name, turned her head, and looked. 

She was slightly surprised to see Veronica and Marissa come over. She then politely flashed a simple smile. “Marissa Blanchet, nice to see you.” 

After a long time apart, Marissa’s eyes were slightly moist. She stepped forward and took Ellinor’s hand, looking at her with concern. “Ellinor, where have you been these past six months? I think about you every day, wondering if you’re okay.” 

“I’ve been to a beautiful place, and I’m doing well.” 

Marissa sighed. “What scenery can compare to home? Isn’t it better to stay home and take care of your pregnancy? Look at you! You’re eight months pregnant, but you look pale. It breaks my heart to think you might have been suffering alone.” 

Ellinor, a little helpless, explained, “Marissa, I wasn’t suffering; I was really doing well on my own.” 

But Marissa didn’t seem to take in her response and was still holding her hand with a pained look. 

Ellinor didn’t want too much contact with the Blanchet family, but she didn’t want to be cold towards Marissa either, so she just endured it for now. At the same time, she felt a pair of unfriendly eyes staring at her. 

She cautiously looked at the pair of eyes that made her uncomfortable, only to see Sophia walking over with a bright smile, reaching out her hand.
