Chapter 1358

Ellinor spoke with a lack of enthusiasm, “Thanks for coming to see me, but I don’t want to talk about this.”

With a smile, Bartlett asked, “I’m just wondering, if you’re willing to reconcile with Theo, where does that leave me?”

Ellinor looked at him with a sincere gaze through her thick, beautiful lashes and said, “Bartlett, you’re my friend, and you’ll always be my friend.”

Bartlett’s face fell. After a while, he chuckled self-deprecatingly. “Forever? Ellinor, you’re not leaving me any hope at all.”

“There’s no point in giving you false hope if I don’t have feelings for you. That’s not who I am.” She said as she let out a yawn and stood up. “You guys enjoy your meal. I’m going to hit the sack.”

Belinda also got up. “Ellinor, let me help you upstairs.”

Ellinor didn’t refuse Belinda’s offer and let her assist her upstairs.

Bartlett looked somewhat lost; his eyes became seemingly unfocused.

After a while, he squinted his eyes, reaching for the glass of water Ellinor had left on the table, intending to take a sip.

However, Chase stopped him.

Smiling, Chase said, “Mr. Rex, this water was sipped on by my boss.”

Bartlett smiled. “I don’t mind.”

Still smiling, Chase said, “But she does.”

Bartlett and Chase locked eyes in an unfriendly stare. Bartlett raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll become her husband and give you a hard time?”

Chase, still blocking the glass, smiled and said, “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, you’re not.”

Finding the situation uninteresting, Bartlett let go of the glass. “You guys eat. I’ve got to bounce.”

He stood up gracefully with an air of nonchalance surrounding him. As he left, he waved at Balfour, who was still sitting by the window. “Balfour, I’m off! Catch you later!”

Balfour nodded lightly. “Alright, I won’t see you out.”

Bartlett waved as he walked out. He tucked his hands into his pockets and strolled out of the Howard family’s front door.

Theo couldn’t get into the Howard family’s house as easily as Bartlett did, but he didn’t gain much pleasure from that fact.

However, now that he saw Ellinor was okay, he felt relieved.
