Chapter 1763
Marissa’s kind eyes rested on Ellinor. “No worries, sweetheart. I just came to check on you. I heard you took the kids to the amusement park yesterday. You must be worn out, right?”
Ellinor shook her head. “Not at all; they were pretty well-behaved. Come on in, Grandma.”
Marissa peeked into the room, noticing that the kids were still peacefully asleep. She shook her head. “I’d better not disturb their sweet dreams. But there’s something I need to discuss with you.”
A curious brow rose on Ellinor’s face. “What’s up, Grandma?”
Marissa sighed deeply. “The Wesley family’s daughter, Belinda Wesley, is getting married in a few days, and they’ve invited us. But your grandpa and I aren’t in the best of health, so we thought we might sit this one out. Could you deliver the wedding gift on our behalf? Belinda is Theo’s favorite niece, and with Theo gone, I’m afraid it’s you who’ll have to bear this burden.”
So that was it.
Ellinor nodded readily. “Don’t worry, Grandma. I’m close to Belinda and her groom-to-be. It’s not a burden at all; it’s something I should do.”
Marissa’s lips curled into a tender smile. “Alright, darling. I’ll go and have the cook prepare your favorite breakfast. The kids can sleep a little longer; no rush.”
Ellinor obediently agreed. “Sure, Grandma.”
With the help of a housemaid, Marissa slowly descended the stairs.
Ellinor squinted at her phone to check the date. She had been so busy that she almost forgot about Belinda and Chase’s wedding.
After a moment of contemplation, she dialed Belinda’s number.
The phone rang for a while before being picked up. “Hello.”
Belinda sounded tired.
As Ellinor was picking out clothes for the kids from the closet, she asked, “How’s the wedding planning going?”
Recognizing Ellinor’s voice, Belinda perked up a bit. “Oh, Ellinor… Everything is almost sorted out, except for the wedding dress. I couldn’t get one custom-made in time, and now I’m having trouble picking out a ready-made one.”
“I’m free around lunchtime today. If you don’t mind, I could come with you.”
Belinda was delighted. “I don’t mind at all! You have the best taste, Ellinor. I’d be over the moon if you’d help me pick a wedding dress. What time should Chase and I pick you up?”
Ellinor asked, “You two are together?”
At that moment, she heard rustling noises over the phone, and then Chase’s voice came through. “Boss, yes, we’re together and still in bed. You called a bit too early. You ruined our moment!”
Ellinor smirked. “You’re about to get married. Have some decency.”
