Balfour furrowed his brow, ready to interject, but Ivy gently stopped him with a shake of her head, silently pleading for him not to get involved. 

Then, turning to face Tessa and Finn with an icy glare, she said, “Yes, I’ve met a rich man, and what of it? Even you two turned your backs on me, remember? Don’t forget, we severed ties long ago, and you took three million from me! You have no right to stand here and judge me now!” 

“You!” Finn was enraged by Ivy’s audacity, his voice rising. “Ivy, no wonder you’re so brazen; you’ve found some sugar daddy to back you up! Let me tell you, shame on you if you want to disgrace yourself, but don’t you drag the Dunhill name through the mud! Now you’ve even gotten your sister locked up. What are your intentions? Are you set on ruining us, destroying our family?” Tessa quickly comforted her husband, patting his chest. “Honey, calm down, don’t get worked up over such a lost cause.” 

She then fixed Ivy with a resentful stare. “You ungrateful brat, won’t you apologize to your father? If it weren’t for you, our family could live peacefully. It’s all your fault; we haven’t had a day of quiet, and now you’ve even implicated your sister. I swear, I could just… 

“Just what? Kill me, right? You think I ever wanted to be your daughter? Being born your child is the worst luck I’ve had! You think my birth was a mistake? Well, guess what? I think having you as my mother is the biggest mistake!” 

Ivy’s voice was cold and mocking, and she trembled with every word. 

If Balfour had not been there to support her, she might have collapsed. 

After hearing Ivy’s retort, her parents grew even more infuriated, hurling increasingly vile insults. 

“You shameless piece of work, climbing into the arms of a man and thinking you’re on top of the world! Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and see if you’re really a swan or just a pretentious duck.” 

Balfour’s brow darkened, unable to fathom that these were the words of a mother to her daughter. 

“Enough!” 

At his limit, Balfour motioned to his security, who promptly stepped forward to escort the Dunhills away. 

The nearby officers looked on, dumbfounded, questioning if these could truly be Ivy’s own parents and not her enemies. 

As Balfour protected Ivy like something precious, Tessa realized her words no longer affected her daughter, and her frustration boiled over. 

“That little tramp, how did she ensnare this man? She’s heartless, not even lifting a finger to bail her sister out. Always causing trouble. If I had known, I would have nipped it in the bud.”
