Chapter 2145 

“Madam, there’s a group of officers at the door. They say they need to speak with you.” 

Ivy set down her water and pondered for a moment, suspecting that the production crew had decided to involve the police after all. 

Well, that was just fine by her. Once she had given her statement, she could leave it in the hands of the officers. She was confident they would clear her name. 

But as soon as Ivy descended the stairs, the officers were ready to escort her away. 

Alyssa was startled. 

What on earth was happening? 

Why had officers come knocking at their door out of the blue? 

“Grandma, Grandpa, just stay put at home. I haven’t done anything wrong. They just need to take an investigation, that’s all.” 

Hearing Ivy’s explanation, Alyssa’s anxiety subsided. 

“Ivy, tell me the truth. Has something happened again? My old heart can’t take much more of this.” 

Ivy offered a reassuring smile and instructed the housekeeper to prepare some calming herbal tea for them. 

“It’s really nothing. By the time you wake up from your afternoon nap, I’ll be back home.” 

After ensuring everything was in order, Ivy turned and followed the officers out.. 

It was her first time riding in a police cruiser to the station, and Ivy felt a mix of nerves and trepidation. 

Even though she knew she was innocent, the situation was still frightening. 

It was like the anxiety she felt every time she fell ill, knowing that a trip to the doctor and some tests would sort it out quickly. But the time leading up to the visit was torture. It wasn’t the fear of a serious diagnosis. It was the dread of hearing something from the doctor that she couldn’t accept. 

Ivy placed her hand over her heart, taking deep breaths. 

If only Balfour were here with her now, she thought unintentionally. 

The moment the thought crossed her mind, Ivy tensed up. 

When you start to rely on someone else without thinking, it’s the beginning of a downfall. 

Ivy shook her head vigorously. She couldn’t afford to think like this anymore. Balfour was neither her family nor her friend, and certainly had no obligation to shoulder her burdens. 

Once at the station, Ivy braced herself for questioning. 

She was somewhat comforted by the fact that the officers didn’t treat her like a criminal but asked about her morning activities and evidence supporting her innocence with meticulous care. 

“Where were you between 9 and 10 a.m., Ms. Dunhill?” 

“I was actually at the police station around that time, possibly near the entrance. I believe there should be surveillance footage. that can confirm this.” 

She had just parted ways with Giselle and had lingered near the station for a while before receiving a call from the production 

crew. 

The officer nodded and proceeded with the next question.
