Chapter 2548 

Clara’s words were harsh, criticizing Mara to no end, and Mara’s face had already darkened on the other end of the phone. 

“You make it sound so easy, just lure him away from that tramp for a minute or two? Do you know how many bodyguards are watching? After that old woman’s incident at his house last time, they’re all gawking at me! It’s already difficult to do this at this critical moment. And if you don’t succeed, I’ll be the suspect again. Isn’t that too big of a price for me to pay?” 

“If you hadn’t come to me to collaborate, I wouldn’t have even considered you. Since you’re so hesitant, perhaps I’m better off doing it alone,” Clara was beyond annoyed. She was determined to make Ivy ruined in no time. But Mara actually told her that now was not the best time to act. Wasn’t this simply pouring cold water on her? 

“I told you long ago that to achieve great things, you must be patient. But you were the ones rushing, insisting on acting immediately. Did I ever agree?” 

Clara’s mood was already bad, having been served with the lawyer’s letter and scolded by Mara. Her face swelled red, and her skinny frame appeared ever more trembling and weak, resembling a female ghost. 

“She already sent me a lawyer’s letter, and you’re not the one being sued, so of course, you’re not worried. What if I go in again, who’s going to be your scapegoat then?” 

Clara spoke coldly, and Mara was silent. 

Both of them were well aware that Mara insisted on cooperating with her because she could use Clara as a scapegoat in case anything went wrong. However, Clara didn’t care about this or the consequences she just wanted to destroy Ivy.

“Fine, I’ll leave it at that. If you can’t do it, just back out.” Clara was about to hang up the phone when Mara suddenly called out, “Wait, let me think about it.” 

“What more is there to think about? By the time you’re done contemplating, her fan meeting will have taken place, the movie promotional tour will have started, and she’ll be thriving. What about you? You’ve got no prospects, no man – don’t you have any sense at all? All of this was supposed to be mine! It was her – Ivy – who snatched everything away from me. If it wasn’t for her, would I be the pathetic mess I am now?” 

Mara despised Ivy more than anything. Ivy intervened and ruined her years-long relationship with Balfour. Her years of hard work and restraint turned into a joke. 

“My hatred for her is as strong if not stronger than yours! Just wait for me to come up with a reason to separate them.” 

“Fine, I’m waiting for your good news. But, Ms. Lewis, please don’t make me wait too long. I’m running out of time.”

After hanging up the phone, Clara’s resentment toward Ivy intensified. She could not take it any longer, tossing everything off the bed onto the floor, venting out her anger before picking up her cell phone and typing.
