Remy was tired of looking after Laura and fed up with her moodiness. My dad's words made his eyes brighten.

"Dad, are you serious? But you're old. | don't think it'll be easy for you to get remarried..." My dad waved his hand confidently. "Men stay young. Have some faith in your dad.”

Then, a thud came. Laura fell in the bathroom. My dad and Remy exchanged a glance before going to the bathroom and helping her up. "You fell. Why didn't you say anything?"

My dad pretended to be calm. Laura shook her head, unable to utter a word.

| noticed her red eyes. it seemed she had cried. She must've heard everything.

She didn't say anything because she needed them. Right now, she couldn't confront them.

But where were they when | needed them? | had been all alone, with nowhere to stay, and no one to rely on.

My biological mom made me marry a violent man.

My whole life was a tragedy, and Laura was the director.

That night, my dad and Remy had gone to sleep.

Laura wanted to go to the bathroom. She tried to wake them up, but they only groaned impatiently. Laura sat up and thought for a while.

She had to go to the bathroom alone.

Again, she fell. This time, she had a mental breakdown and sobbed. Till midnight, my dad and Remy still didn't get up.

The next morning, when the nurse came on a round of wards, she helped Laura stand up and took her to the bed.

"As her family, can't you pay more attention to the patient? We had a female patient. No one was there to take care of her. She almost died."

Laura turned to the nurse. "What was her name?"

"Grace Parrish. Her family wasn't with her. She came for chemo alone. She asked us to keep her condition from her family.

"She said her family wasn't rich, and her brother couldn't take care of her mom. So, she gave up on her treatment and left the money for her mom."

The nurse's words were on and off. Laura's face had gone pale.

She looked at my dad and Remy. They were calm as if the nurse was talking about a stranger.
