A few students passed by, pointing and whispering.

The crowd kept growing.

"Mason... let go of me..."

Chloe pushed him hard, but it felt like he was stuck to her.

This corner of the school was the only place that didn't carry Mason's scent.

She had always kept her school life and personal life separate.

But Mason had just torn down everything she had built at school.

It felt like she could sense the strange looks from the people around her.

The harder she pushed, the harder Mason kissed her, like he was trying to consume her, suffocating her with his force.

A hint of blood seeped from between their teeth.

The next second, security arrived, and Mason stopped.

Chloe slapped Mason's rebellious face hard.

He wiped the corner of his mouth where Chloe had bitten him, but his eyes were full of satisfaction, like a winner.

He leaned closer to her, breathless, "I've apologized for everything I did wrong."

"If there's anything else you're unhappy about, just tell me how to fix it, I'll do anything."

"As long as you're willing to cool down, I'll do whatever you want..." 

He was Mason.

When had he ever spoken such humble words, like a lost dog begging for mercy?

Mason thought she would cry, that she'd be moved.

"Mason..."

Chloe's eyes turned red, a thin mist clouding them before the tears rolled down.

Mason's heart fluttered, and he reached out to wipe away her tears.

But Chloe pulled away.

"Mason, I'm not Emma Harris," Chloe looked into his eyes, her lips curling with sarcasm.

"I'm just a replacement, like you always say, don't take it too seriously."

Mason's face froze instantly, his lips twitching.

"Who told you about Emma Harris?" 

Chloe smiled softly, "I not only know about her, I've been pretending to be her, staying by your side just like she did."

Mason's eyes slowly filled with rage, his lips pressed tightly together.

"Did Ava tell you?"

After a pause, he muttered, "Ava doesn't know about this."

"Tell me, how did you find out?"

His voice rose, anger showing in his eyes.

"You think I stayed by your side for these years, and your mother never blamed me?"

"You really think it's because you like me?"
