REAGAN'S POV.
“Good morning, My Lord.” The two guards stationed outside the door to the penthouse greet in unison with their heads bowed down as I approach them. When I'm close, I stop on my tracks and let my gaze slide over their profiles.
Jake and Stanley.
Vibrant young men in their mid-twenties dressed in suits and armed with their favourite weapons, ready to execute any order I give.
I'm not saying their lives aren't tough or that people like them don't have problems, but I think maybe my life would be a lot easier if I were a royal guard. All I had to do was execute orders. I had the right to choose whoever I wanted to be with without having to worry about the opinions of the general public. Sometimes being a leader is more of a curse than a blessing and like I said before, if in my next life I find out on my birth bed that I was born an Alpha again heir again, I will kill myself.
“Good morning. You may lift your heads up.” I return their greetings and instruct and they quickly do that. Jake steps towards the door and types the door code for me. I give him a thank you nod and step into the penthouse, making sure to close the door behind me.
I'm here to see Ashanti.
I came home exhausted last night so I decided to go straight to bed because I knew coming to see her would only get me more exhausted as we'd do nothing but yell at each other.
“Is this what I've been reduced to now? A prisoner!” An angrily looking Ashanti booms as she takes long strides over to me. With the way I see her approaching, I expect a smack to land on my left cheek when she finally steps in front of me, but it doesn't. She simply stands a few metres from me and scowls at me as though trying to hurt me with her eyes. Her intense gaze and the overall look on her face nearly makes me laugh, but I know I'll lose my head if I dare to do that, so I keep a straight face and let my eyes linger over the length of her body from head to toe. She looks beautiful in that little blue dress she has on.
“Good morning to you, Ashanti.” I greet, training my eyes back on her face. My little stallion rolls her eyes at me and groans in frustration.
