Chapter 356 A Local Gang
Becca Curtis, Agate’s mother, appeared to be in her mid–forties, still attractive enough to catch attention despite her age. Upon discovering Maren was Agate’s friend, she urged, “You can’t stay here another second, dear! These people are monsters! Two weeks ago, my friend’s daughter was attacked by this gang and ended her life by jumping off a building. When her mother confronted them, they beat her to death. Please, you must leave immediately!”
Fear clouded Becca’s eyes. Turning sharply toward Agate, she scolded her daughter. “How could you drag your friend into our mess? You’re endangering her life!”
“You don’t have to worry, Mom. Maren’s tough as nails. These bullies aren’t even worth mentioning She could easily handle ten more of them,” Agate reassured her confidently.
Those large, aggressive men seemed intimidating to ordinary people, but in Agate’s eyes, they couldn’t hold a candle to Maren.
Becca stood speechless, watching Agate enthusiastically mime punches in the air.
Turning back toward Maren, she asked cautiously, “Were you the one who rescued Agate before?”
“It was her, Mom. Maren didn’t just save me–she saved everyone there. She’s basically like a real–life superhero!” Agate chimed in eagerly before Maren could answer.
After escaping that cruise ship nightmare, Agate had returned home shaken and traumatized, collapsing into
her mother’s embrace and sobbing uncontrollably for hours.
Eventually, she recounted every terrifying detail of the incident to her mother.
After holding each other and crying for what felt like forever, they finally made the choice to leave Grisriver behind and start fresh in Plalo. What they didn’t see coming was that trouble in Plalo would be even worse.
Plalo’s lax law enforcement made ordinary people like them easy targets.
With Agate’s father gone since her childhood, she and her mother had learned early on how to silently endure hardship and abuse.
“Please forgive me, Miss Morgan,” Becca apologized earnestly, suddenly embarrassed. Agate had told her Maren came from an influential background, and addressing someone like Maren as “dear” might be acceptable for someone Agate’s age–but inappropriate for a respected young woman from a powerful family.
Status and reputation meant everything in circles like Maren’s.
Stepping closer, Becca thanked Maren sincerely again.
“You don’t have to thank me, Mrs. Curtis. Agate’s my friend–it’s only natural for me to help her,” Maren answered warmly.
Becca hesitated slightly, surprised by Maren’s kindness. Maren was nothing like the powerful elites she had

encountered before, who usually dominated others through intimidation and arrogance.
“Are you kidding me right now? Still gossiping away as if we’re invisible?”
The men nearby bristled at being ignored.
They were annoyed that these women hadn’t even bothered to learn who ran this area–the Wolf Pack.
“If you’re so desperate for trouble, I’ll gladly grant your wish.” Without hestation, Maren delivered a fierce kick, sending one of the thugs sprawling across the pavement.
“You sneaky brat!” The others snapped out of their shock, cursing as they charged toward Maren.
The fight ended swiftly. In under ten seconds, they were all writhing on the ground, moaning in agony.
“You crazy woman! You dare lay hands on me? Do you even realize who I am? Ever heard of the Wolf Pack? You’ve crossed a line, and now you’ll never survive in Plalo!”
Their leader lay bruised and battered, yelling threats through clenched teeth.
“I’ll never survive in Plalo? Now that’s a joke I wasn’t expecting to hear.” Maren chuckled.
The name “Wolf Pack” was new to her. She guessed it was just another local street gang.
“Tell you what–call your leader. Have him show up right here. I’ll beat him in front of the entire city, so
everyone can see exactly who runs things from now on,” Maren said confidently.
Considering the Williams family had already promised her control over this city, she intended to quickly clean
house and establish order.
The first step was to deal decisively with these unruly thugs, making sure they’d think twice before creating
more trouble for her in the future.
