”No." Charlie pretended to be surprised as he asked," Why? What's wrong? Is Mom not back home yet?"

"No." Claire replied, "I thought that she was going out with her friend. However, one of her friends just called me earlier and told me that they have not been able to contact my mother ever since the afternoon. They kept waiting for her to confirm whether they would be having dinner together, but they could not find her at all. I also asked dad about it, but he told me that he did not know where she was. That's why I decided to ask you instead."

Charlie replied indifferently, "I really do not know where your mother is. She asked me for some money i n the afternoon, saying that she wanted to go out for dinner with her friends. However, since dad is in charge of our family’s money now, I told her that I had to ask for dad's consent first. I did not give your mother any money because your dad did not consent t o this matter. I think your mother was a little angry."

Claire nodded thoughtfully before she said, "That is a little weird. She is not at home, and she did not meet u p with any of her friends at all. So, where could she possibly be now?"

Charlie shrugged before he said, "Perhaps she went out to play mahjong instead?"

Claire replied, "But why would she turn off her cell

phone, then? No one can contact her at all. She has never done anything like this before."

"Perhaps her cell phone has already run out of battery?" Charlie replied. "Don’t worry. Mom is already an adult. She should be able to take care of herself."

Claire sighed before she said, "Although she is an adult, she is always acting and behaving like a child. I am really afraid that she is causing trouble somewhere now."

Loreen asked in surprise, "You can't find auntie anywhere?"

"Yes." Claire replied anxiously, "I cannot get through her cell phone at all. Moreover, it seems as though no one has seen her at all today."

At this time, Jacob poked his head into the kitchen and asked in surprise, "Why are all of you gathering in the kitchen as soon as you are home? I was just thinking of asking you to have some tea with me."

Claire asked, "Dad, did Mom contact you at all? Why isn't she home when it is already so late at night?"

Jacob snorted coldly when Claire asked him about Elaine. After that, he replied angrily, "Who knows?

Just let her be. I bet she is outside creating more trouble for all of us."

After he was done talking, Jacob placed his hands behind him before slowly walking out of the kitchen.

Claire could only sigh before she said, "Charlie, don’t you know a lot of people in Aurous Hill? Don Albert seems to have a very good relationship with you. Can you ask him to do you a favor and help us ask around and see if anyone has seen my mom?"

Charlie replied, "My dear wife, even children would come home late sometimes after going out to play.

Mom has only gone out for one afternoon. Why are you so worried? She used to play mahjong for an even longer period of time in the past! If she is really playing mahjong at her friend's place, we might not be able to find her even if we turn the whole Aurous Hill upside down!"

Claire pursed her lips tightly together before she said," Alright then, let's wait for a short while. If mom is not back by ten o'clock at night, I will call the police!"

"Call the police?" Charlie replied awkwardly, "Do you really need to do that? The police officers must already be very busy. I feel that we should not be bothering them with something as mediocre as this."

"How can I just let it be?" Claire replied seriously, "We have not even been able to find aunt after she disappeared. What if the same thing happens to my mother too? If I do not see or hear from my mom at ten o’clock tonight, I want you to accompany me to the police station!"
