Chapter 399 novel The Marriage She Turned into War
Abigail acted as if she had uncovered a monumental secret. She pointed her finger at me and yelled. "Why did she say that there were still many things left unsaid the last time you met and that she hopes to have a proper talk with you next time?"
But before I could say anything, Abigail continued to berate me. "You know perfectly well that Blair and I have never gotten along! So why did you go and meet her behind my back? Samuel, do you even see me as your wife? Why would you do this to me?"
Each of Abigail's accusations and insults felt like a knife plunging into my heart. Her barrage of humiliation and distrust cut deep into me. It was as if she believed I was immune to pain.
Her eyes were sharp as she ground out through clenched teeth. "I knew something was off. Why else have you kept rejecting me recently? It's because you want to be with Blair, isn't it?"
Her relentless accusations left me feeling utterly drained. I exhaled slowly, shaking my head before replying calmly, "Yes, I did meet her, but it was a misunderstanding."
"Misunderstanding?" Abigail let out a derisive laugh. She shook her head, glaring at me as she snapped, "Go ahead! Keep making things up! I'd love to see what other lies you'll come up with to fool me!"
She was convinced I was lying to cover for Blair.
What she seemed to forget, however, was that it was Abigail herself who had gone to great lengths to plant Joshua into Hanson's company.
Once there, Joshua shirked all his responsibilities. He even dumped his work onto his colleagues.
This particular task, which initially should have been assigned to him, was no exception. Joshua, however, was too lazy to meet with the other party and had pushed it off. This led Hanson to ask me to step in.
