Finley looked at her seriously. “There’s no need for that. I just want you to stay by my side.” 

Samantha leaned her head on his shoulder. “I won’t leave even if you try to push me away.” 

Finley nodded, his gaze softening as he looked at her. 

Meanwhile, Emily could only hear their voices from the front seat, unable to see them. She had always been drawn to interesting voices, especially deep and attractive ones like Finley’s. Though she couldn’t see him, his voice captivated her. With a voice like that, he had to be good–looking too. 

People gossiped that Finley was as hideous as a monster and had even caused the deaths of his wives, but Samantha was alive and well, and Finley’s voice was so magnetic. Even if he wasn’t conventionally hahdsome, he certainly wasn’t as terrifying as the rumors suggested. In fact, it seemed clear to Emily that the gossip was far from the truth. Finley was definitely handsome, with a voice that matched, and she couldn’t help but feel a bit envious of Samantha, who got to be around him every day. How lucky Samantha was. 

Two hours later, they finally arrived at Finley’s home. The driver dropped off Emily first and then headed to Elias‘ quarters. Samantha and Finley got out together, and after putting on his mask, he made his way to the dining hall. 

The driver led Emily to a quiet, somewhat secluded courtyard. Confused, she asked, “Where are we?” 

“This is where your brother, Dr. Leventhorpe, lives,” the driver explained. 

“But why is it so quiet here?” 

“Your brother prefers peace and quiet when he’s working on his medicines, so he chose a place a bit further from the main house. But don’t worry, Miss Leventhorpe. A maid will bring your meals every day, even though it’s a bit of a distance. It’s late now, so your dinner should already be waiting inside. You just need to go in and eat.” 

Emily looked around the quiet yard, feeling that it was almost too peaceful. It didn’t seem like a place where anyone would want to live. 

Encouraged by the driver, she entered the room, where she found Elias anxiously checking

Emily reassured him, “Elias, I came back with Samantha. How could anything have happened to me?” 

Hearing her casually refer to Samantha by name, Elias gently corrected her, “Emily, you’re younger than Samantha, so it’s not appropriate to call her by her first name. Besides, she’s the mistress of the Dean family now. You should address her as Miss Samantha or Mrs. Dean.” 

Emily was at a loss for words.
