“But why is it so quiet here?”
“Your brother prefers peace and quiet when he’s working on his medicines, so he chose a place a bit further from the main house. But don’t worry, Miss Leventhorpe. A maid will bring your meals every day, even though it’s a bit of a distance. It’s late now, so your dinner should already be waiting inside. You just need to go in and eat.”
Emily looked around the quiet yard, feeling that it was almost too peaceful. It didn’t seem like a place where anyone would want to live.
