Finley always said things like that, but Samantha knew better. He’d end up handling Dean Corporation’s business behind her back late at night. She was well aware of how demanding running such a huge company could be. 

Samantha playfully pushed him away. “I don’t need you sticking around here. Go back to your company and deal with your own work. I’ll come find you when I’m done.” 

Finley smirked, “Are you turning me down?” 

She rolled her eyes. “I’m not turning you down. It’s just that having you here is going to mess with your impression of me. So, please go.” 

Finley glanced at the senior executives standing nearby, then looked back at Samantha, noticing the faint blush on her face. With a smile, he teased, “So, my Sam is feeling shy.” 

He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, “I’ll come pick you up after work.” 

“Fine.” 

He gave her a gentle pat on the head before walking away, leaving the senior executives standing there watching. As soon as he was gone, Samantha straightened up and commanded, “Alright, let’s start the meeting. Have a seat.” 

That afternoon, Samantha delegated tasks to the senior executives, instructing them to reach out to fallen stars and actors, aiming to get them signed as quickly as possible. Once the meeting was over, she dismissed everyone. 

It was her first day on the job, and there was a mountain of work to do. She reviewed the company’s finances over the last three years and discovered that Wallace Corporation was on the verge of collapse. It was practically an empty shell. Dale had drained the company of all its resources, and yet he still had the audacity to want her position as president. The nerve! 

The more she pored over the financial records, the worse her headache grew. Finally, she closed the books, deciding she’d had enough for the day. 

Just then, her assistant came in. This was someone Samantha had recently promoted after noticing how he’d been bullied by the veteran staff members. 

“Miss Wallace, there’s a man outside asking to see you.” 

“Who is it?” Samantha asked. 

“He said his name is Sylvan Porter.” 

Sylvan Porter? 

Her brow furrowed. She gave a quick order to her assistant, “Let him in.” 

The assistant hesitated, and Samantha, not one to tolerate delays, said sharply, “If you’ve got something to

The assistant quickly explained, “Sylvan is covered in blood, and there are a lot of people outside taking pictures. I’m worried it might hurt the company’s reputation if we bring him in.” 

Covered in blood? Was he hurt? Sylvan was supposed to be the male lead in her upcoming movie–he couldn’t afford to be injured. Without hesitation, Samantha stood up and took the elevator down. When she arrived, she found security guards had stopped him outside the building, where a crowd had gathered, snapping photos and gossiping.
