“Why are you dressed up like that in the middle of the night? Where are you going?” Samantha teased. 

Finley chuckled. “Nowhere. I just wanted to look good for you.” 

Once again, Samantha realized that Finley had become more charming with his words lately. 

She reached for her pajamas, letting her towel fall to the floor as she slipped into her nightwear right in front of him. He didn’t take his eyes off her the entire time. “Sam…” he murmured. 

“Hmm?” 

“Do you know what happens when a woman undresses in front of a man?” 

She tilted her head, playfully eyeing him. “What happens?” 

“You’ll get devoured.” 

And with that, Finley swept her off the floor in a bridal carry and laid her on the bed. As he moved toward her with a grin, her face flushed, and she whispered, “You’re such a tease.” 

Early the next morning, Samantha rose early and headed to the academy. 

As soon as she arrived, she ran into Garrison. His tone was cold as he asked, “Why didn’t you come yesterday?” 

Samantha found his question strange. Why would he even care if I showed up or not? 

“I had something to take care of,” she replied. 

“What was it?” 

“And how does that concern you?” 

Garrison’s throat tightened for a moment. “It doesn’t. I was just asking.” 

Leaving that oddly cryptic remark behind, Garrison turned and walked away. Samantha, unfazed, continued to her classroom. 

Around lunchtime, she stepped out of the academy after receiving a call from her assistant. Sylvan had shown up at the company and specifically asked to see her. 

So, Samantha headed to the office to meet him. 

When she entered, Sylvan was sitting on the couch, waiting for her. She approached and sat down across from him. “What can I do for you?” 

“Was it you who covered my sister–in–law’s medical bills?” 

Samantha smiled. “I didn’t even know your sister–in–law was in trouble, so how could I have paid for her

Without a word, Sylvan pulled out his phone and played a video for her. 

In the footage, Joel was seen paying the bill. 

Samantha remained quiet.

“And what exactly am I supposed to be seeing?” 

“The man in the video is your assistant. So, Ms. Wallace, you’ve done a good deed. Why not own up to it? Or are you trying to spare me from feeling pressured by pretending otherwise?” 

Samantha responded coldly, “If you already know the answer, why bother asking?” 

“I’m just curious, Ms. Wallace. Why would you go out of your way to help me? Is it just because you’re trying to get me to sign with you?” 

Samantha stayed silent, and Sylvan pressed on, “Or maybe I should ask a different question. Why are you so determined to sign me? Everyone knows I have a bad reputation as an artist.” 

“But I know you’ve been wrongfully accused.” 

Sylvan asked bitterly, “You’re not me. How can you be so sure I’ve been wrongfully accused? What if I wasn’t?” 

“Then I’d still sign you.” 

“Give me one good reason why I should sign with you.” 

Samantha’s expression turned serious. “Because my company is called “Dream Maker.” I want to help artists who’ve been blacklisted for things they didn’t do find their way back to the top. I want to see them stand at the peak of their careers again and tell the world they were wrongfully accused. Sylvan, I want to sign you so I can help you achieve the dream you were denied.” 

She paused before continuing, her voice unwavering. “And I want to help you clear your name. I’ve read through your background. You’re only twenty–eight. You worked your way up and became a top actor through sheer determination, but you lost everything because of your brother’s actions. Let me ask you something–are you really happy with that?”
