“Sir, I have to be honest with you,” the doctor said, clearly exasperated. “If you keep holding onto this young lady so tightly, I won’t be able to treat her injuries. Look, her head wound is severe, and she’s lost a lot of blood. If you don’t let go soon, I can’t guarantee she won’t suffer permanent damage–possibly even long–term effects.” 

At the doctor’s warning, Finley finally loosened his grip on Samantha, laying her gently onto the bed so the doctor could tend to her. Meanwhile, a nurse begat treating his wounded arm. 

Once they reached the hospital, Samantha was whisked away for a full examination. Finley remained outside the examination room, anxiously waiting for news. 

Time seemed to crawl as he sat there. Eventually, the doctor returned, looking somber. “Sir, your wife’s condition is serious,” he began. “The injury to the back of her head is serious. She’s fallen into a coma, and there’s a real risk of internal bleeding, which could form a clot. If that happens, it might press on her optic nerves, leading to blindness.” 

Finley’s breath caught as the doctor continued. “We won’t know more until we get the results of 

tomorrow’s tests. For now, I suggest you register her for admission. Once we have the results, I’ll give you a clearer picture of her situation.” 

The doctor’s words barely registered in Finley’s mind as he watched the nurses wheel Samantha out of the examination room. He rushed over, calling her name, but there was no response. She lay still, completely unresponsive, her breathing shallow. 

“She’ll be okay,” Finley whispered, as much to himself as to her. 

“She has to be.” 

Determined, Finley turned to the doctor, his voice hard as steel. “I don’t care what it takes–you have to save her. I don’t care what you do, but you cannot let anything happen to her. Do you understand me?” 

The intensity in Finley’s gaze sent a shiver down the doctor’s spine. 

His stare feels so terrifying. 

“Y–Yes, sir,” he stammered, nodding quickly. “I’ll do my best.”

Finley’s eyes narrowed with a dangerous intensity. Without warning, he grabbed the doctor by the collar, pulling him close. “No. I don’t want to hear that. You better save her no matter what, or I’ll make sure you regret it.” 

The doctor, trembling under Finley’s glare, could only nod frantically. “Y–Yes, sir. I will do everything in my power!” 

Satisfied with the response, Finley released him. Without another word, he turned and walked into Samantha’s hospital room. She lay there, peaceful yet vulnerable, her vitals stable but unconscious. Finley sat beside her, his hand gently brushing against her cheek, the warmth of her skin grounding him in his swirling emotions.

“I won’t let anything happen to you. I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure you’re okay.”

Samantha, still unconscious, drifted into a dream. In it, she found herself watching a scene that felt oddly familiar. She recalled it from news footage she had seen in her past life. 

In the dream, Elain and a girl she didn’t recognize were there. 

The girl stood next to Elain, while a group of police officers surrounded them, with reporters closing in to capture every word of the interview. 

“We were able to capture the murderer thanks to these two young women beside me,” the officer said, addressing the reporters. “Their bravery and intelligence helped us bring the suspect to justice in the warehouse basement.” 

Elain, with a poised smile, addressed the cameras. “It was an honor to assist the police in apprehending the suspect 

The reporters barely glanced at the trembling girl beside her, directing all their questions to Elain, who answered confidently. 

One reporter asked, “Ms. Elain…”
