Night fell and the city lit up.
At Sally's Seafood, Penny was having dinner with Kylie, Queenie, Benson and Leah.
Since Nathan and Ava were bodyguards, it wouldn't be appropriate for them to eat with their employers. Hence, both of them sat at a separate table to eat while guarding Penny and her family at the same time.
Ava's eyes were fixated on Nathan throughout their meal.
Sensing the weight of her gaze, Nathan looked up and asked, “Is something wrong, Ma'am? Why are you staring at me like that?”
Ava grinned mischievously. “Are you sure it's appropriate for you to address me so
respectfully? Shouldn't it be the other way around,” she paused before emphasizing, “Sir?”
Nathan froze slightly and looked at Ava in bewilderment.
Ava chuckled and said, “You don't seem to get what I mean. Then, allow me to rephrase.”
She leaned forward before continuing, “Should I be calling you Bay, or Nathan?”
Nathan's brows furrowed slightly and lowered his voice. “When did you find out?”
Ava had a smug look on her face when she replied, “The Grumbling Earth and Military Punch are the General's signature moves. Not to mention, he has the monopoly over these two techniques.”
“And since you executed both the Grumbling
Earth and Military Punch, who else could you be if not the General?”
Nathan was left speechless by her.
Indeed, the truth would always come out in the end. Ava had seen through his facade so easily.
Nathan simply replied, “Just keep this to yourself.”
Ava's eyes darted around before she asked in a low voice, “General, are you going to keep this from Mrs. Cross too?”
deserter.
“So, if all of you don't know my identity and treat me as a simple bodyguard, no one would suspect a thing.”
Realization dawned on Ava and she exclaimed, “So that's why!”
As though she suddenly recalled something, she spoke in a hushed tone, “General, there's something I need to report to you.”
“Go ahead,” Nathan replied.
Ava continued in a low voice, “After you taught Ceaser Goldstein a lesson yesterday, he didn't repent, nor did he return to Brimmopolis.
“He contacted a large group of his friends and allies who gathered a total of two thousand men to assist him.
“Also, he sent someone to pass on his message, asking Mrs. Cross to bring you and Ms. Tonkins to meet him at the Celestial Club tonight.
“He said that if the three of yₒᵤ don't show up, he'll go on a killing spree.”
