Meanwhile, at the Davier family residence in Brimmopolis.
Clifford's face was livid at the sight of Yanny who was on the brink of death as he lay on the stretcher.
He had finally realized the severity of the problem!
Clifford had initially attributed the tragic loss of the elite fighters of the Goldstein family in the South to their sedentary lifestyle.
Then, he thought that the problem would have been solved if he had sent Yanny along with the Cabinet Bodyguards. He figured that if those hundreds of the Cabinet Bodyguards could not handle the situation, at least he had the Octa Elites backing them up in seeking revenge for
Gillian and his son.
Never in a million years did he imagine that Yanny would come back with his men thoroughly beaten up and humiliated.
Yanny was the most severely injured in the group, with all four of his limbs left crippled.
Clifford was seething with fury. Do they have no idea who they're actually dealing with?Penny and her subordinates are crossing the line by hurting Yanny. This is outrageous!
Yanny muttered weakly on the stretcher, “Sir, I have brought shame to you.”
“You'd better get a good treatment at the hospital,” Clifford said impassively.
“Sir, even though I'm badly injured, the trip to the South is not a total lost cause...” Yanny
struggled on the stretcher.
Furrowing his brows, Clifford asked, “What do?"
“Didn't you ask me to investigate Bay Cross? You mentioned to report to you if he's actually someone important, and to just kill him off if he's a nobody.”
“Did you manage to get information on that?” Clifford was quite surprised.
“I don't think Bay Cross is a nobody. Even though my investigation did not yield any results, I notice that two people are showing much respect to this man. The two men seemed to know a lot about this guy. I think that we're going to be able to find out some interesting things if we start asking the two men some questions.”
“Who are those two?” Clifford knitted his brows.
“One of them is the overlord of the South's underworld, Thomas Dunn.
“The other one is a major from the East, Ivan Liam.
“Sir, I think you should start asking these two some questions. I bet that we're going to uncover many more of Bay Cross's secrets.”
“Yes, sir!”
“You have undergone intensive training ever since you were young. Haven't you always wanted to fight with the legendary God of War, Nathan Cross? I think a surprise might present itself during your trip to the South this time!”
The others widened their eyes as they could not quite believe what they were hearing.
Even Arnold was taken aback at what Clifford was trying to insinuate. “Sir, do you mean that Bay Cross might actually be Nathan Cross?”
Clifford's lips curled into a slight smile. “We have never heard of Bay Cross in the North Army. Isn't it really weird and somewhat suspicious that someone this powerful has appeared out of nowhere? Even if this guy was not Nathan Cross, he might be one of those from Fang, Destroyer, or perhaps even Heptakill.
“Get the facts straight, and if this guy is one of the Fang, Destroyer or Heptakill, just kill him off.
“However, please report to me right away if he's indeed Nathan Cross. That way, I could directly report that he has left his post at the North without prior notification. Even if I couldn't kill him, I can at least get him suspended.”
“Yes, sir!”
The other subordinates were elated to hear Clifford's comment.
If Nathan had indeed left the North without prior notice, then it might as well be the end of the commander-in-chief's military career.
