The banquet quickly came to an end.
That very night, Nathan visited Garrett at the White House in secret.
He had a discussion with Garrett all night long before returning to his hotel. He had planned on returning to Channing in the South the next day, bid farewell to his family, and then go on a covert trip to the North - the war against Xyperia was about to begin.
On that same night, another major event also occurred.
Yosef Davier was sent to the emergency room of the hospital.
The team of renowned surgeons painstakingly pulled through a few hours of surgery just to
bring Yosef back from the brink of death.
On the other hand, Clifford was not there waiting outside the surgery room. In fact, he was not even at the hospital.
However, he could not bear to sleep and waited with his eyes closed in his study room for hours upon hours.
He only opened his eyes upon hearing Quent's update on Yosef's situation.
“What did the doctors say?” He asked expressionlessly.
“The doctors said that his face has become completely disfigured, and he has a concussion. This means that while Mr. Yosef has made it through, his face is pretty much done for, not to mention that the side effects of his concussion include uncontrollable drooling,” Quent replied
quietly.
What? How can that be?
Flames of rage had sparked off in Clifford's eyes.
With trembling hands, he grabbed an invaluable brush pen on his desk and snapped it in half.
“I'll never forgive myself if I don't kill that man!” He roared.
Sensing the fury emanating from Clifford, Quent hastily lowered his head and kept his mouth shut.
“Where is Nathan Cross?” Clifford continued, gritting his teeth.
In no time at all, Apocalypse, who donned a black robe, appeared in Clifford's study room.
He knelt on one knee before Clifford, making a dull thud on the floor, and said in a low voice, “Sir, you have called for me.”
“Apocalypse, there is a new mission I want you to do. Bring the Demon Troopers. Don't disappoint me,” Clifford said impassively.
Apocalypse raised an eyebrow, feeling a little surprised. A mission that requires me to lead the Demon Troopers to complete?
Looking up, he replied, ‘Tm at your command.”
“Tomorrow, Nathan will board a plane from the Metro Brimmopolis Airport to return to Channing. Take the Demon Troopers and ambush him on the way to the airport. You must kill him at all costs!” Clifford said.
Killing the God of War of Eurasia!
Excitement flickered in Apocalypse's eyes.
Licking his crimson lips and smiling vulgarly, he growled, “Yes, sir!”
