In the afternoon the next day.

The sky was dyed in a crimson red as the sun directed its ruthless rays across the skyline.

Along with Colin and the Elite Eight, Nathan came out of the command center and arrived on a hillside.

Standing with his hands behind his back, Nathan looked across the horizon where the rumble of bombing could be heard in the distance. He was unperturbed and started placidly, “It's just as what I've anticipated. The battle on the first day would be a little tricky but as soon as the air force of the enemy is eradicated, the battle would become increasingly smooth.”

Colin answered with a smile, “Chief Military

Governor, Fang, Destroyer, Heptakill and other generals have set off in full force with all the troops. The army has already entered the Xyperian territory and is now flattening the enemy, bringing them to their knees. I'd estimate that Xyperia would be surrendering in a few days' time. We would achieve victory much earlier than expected.”

The Elite Eight were all looking at Nathan with high spirits and said, “General Cross deserves the most credit for our victory over the insufferable Xyperian army. When the war is over, you would be firmly entrenched in your position of the Chief Military Governor. By then, those Great Cabinet members would have no reason to object anymore.”

Colin and other guards were all delighted.

When General Cross gains a solid foothold as the Chief Military Governor, the President would take charge of the political affairs while the Chief

Military Governor would take charge of military affairs in the future. The era of the Chief Military Governor has come.

Despite that, Nathan was still very composed. Looking in the distance, he spoke in a rather desolate tone, “If it's solely because of the position alone, I'd rather not be this Chief Military Governor than to sacrifice so many of our soldiers in this war.”

Colin returned aloud, “Chief Military Governor, Xyperia has always been obsessed with defeating us since ancient times. All this while, they've viewed us as their enemy and even claimed that our northern border belongs to them. They've been trying to bring us down incessantly and recently they've become increasingly conceited. Hence, this war is inevitable. You don't have to blame yourself. On the contrary, the names of our sacrificed soldiers will be engraved on the Warriors Monument forever. As for the people who are protected, they will always remember your contribution. You're a real hero!”

Nathan felt much better after listening to that.

He raised his hand and touched the Leviathan mask which was woven with golden threads on his face and laughed, “The people will not remember my contribution because they don't even know that I'm the Chief Military Governor. Anyway, it's actually good this way. The credit for winning this war belongs to everyone!”

Colin had been following Nathan for years. Their relationship had long turned into solidarity and brotherhood.

Hearing Nathan's words, he laughed boldly in response. “Chief Military Governor, even though your identity remains unknown to everyone else at the moment, it might be revealed after this.

And if it stays a secret even in the future, you're still a hero. An unsung hero who serves in anonymity.”

That made Nathan chuckle.

Even the Elite Eight were laughing.

As soon as the siren went off, the Dragonslayer Special Troops who were approaching in the dark and preparing to ambush them realized

that their whereabouts had been discovered.

However, the target was already within reach and according to the information they received, the defense force of the Chief Military Governor at present was deplorably limited.

Thus, Captain Matteo appeared in front of Nathan directly with his troop of adept fighters from all over the world.

The ambush failed so why not just go all out?

Nathan placed his hands behind his back as his phoenix military coat was rattled by the strong wind in the mountains.

He looked at Matteo and uttered dispassionately, “I have to admire your courage. Our President just announced yesterday that we'll show no mercy to whoever affronts Eurasia and your den of thieves dared to worm your way into our territory. Do you guys have a death wish?”

Matteo and the hundreds of skillful fighters around him eyed Nathan and the regrettable handful of men beside him with a look of interest.

He cracked his mouth into a grin. “Haha. So I guess you're the Chief Military Governor of Eurasia? I'm sorry but we're not here to die. We're here to send you to hell.”
