Damn it! Her bodyguard is no joke!

Caught in a plight, Webb regretted not bringing all his skilled men. If he had known Penny had such a capable bodyguard, he would have come better prepared.

His heated cheeks went red and his knees grew numb with pain as he knelt on the ground.

Never in his life had he felt this humiliated.

Webb tilted his head and glared at Penny and Ava spitefully. “Do you have a death wish? How dare you do this to me? I swear I won't let this slide! The Goldstein family won't either!”

His insolence put a frown on Penny's brows. Beside her, Ava seemed unperturbed. Like Nathan, Ava was never afraid of anyone. Given the years she spent at war and among the assassins, many had died in her hands and she was already desensitized to such. Webb's threats were nothing close to a pinch to her.

She lifted her leg and booted him forcefully, sending him flying towards the wall.

Without even giving him a breather, she charged toward him and drilled her foot into his chest.

Webb's face contorted as he felt an intensifying pressure on his chest. The cracking sounds from his ribcage made him broke out in cold sweat, thinking his bones were on the verge of breaking.

His heart thumped faster over time as if it was going to burst.

Webb's eyes bulged like a toad and he opened his mouth wide, gasping for air.

“Please... I'll... tell you...” His face was distorted in pain as he waved his limbs desperately.

Ava turned and looked at Penny.

After getting an approving nod from her, Ava finally lifted her leg from Webb's chest.

The latter hurried and sat up, leaning against the wall. His panting broke out into a cough as he gasped for air.

Damn these women! Wait till I get my hands on y'all!

Penny and Ava exchanged uneasy gazes without saying a word.

“Nathan literally vanished from the battlefield. His name is not on the list of soldiers feted for distinguished service, and neither is he on the casualty list. This can only mean one thing—he deserted the army.”

Nathan went missing on the battlefield?

The women were both shocked and worried.

Penny especially was worried sick. “My husband is an honorable man. I know his personality very well, he will leave his men behind!”

Her shaky gaze darted around in worry before it finally landed on Webb. “What did you guys do to him? I know you all hated him and wanted him gone! Speak! Did y'all kill him?”

Ava went closer and glared coldly at Webb in the eyes. “Webb Goldstein, you'd better answer Mrs. Cross' question honestly. You won't get out alive if I find you lying.”
