Sherman broke into a cackle at Nathan's remarks.

“Who the hell do you think you are to determine whether my father lives or dies?

“You're not even the General of the North right now. Even if you are, dictating his life and death is way beyond your league.

“Only the President himself has the power to exterminate my father. Well, if we want to consider every single possibility, then maybe the legendary Chief Military Governor holds the same authority.

“As for you, who the hell do you think you are, exactly?”

Nathan could not help but grin. “And I thought you guys were fearless.

“So you guys do live in fear of the President, and me.

Sherman was stumped.

He scoffed, “The President is the de facto leader of our nation. It goes without question that we respect the man.

“As for the Chief Military Governor, he has led the North and defeated hundreds and thousands of Xyperian men. There is no doubt that we revere the man too.

“But I couldn't say the same for you!"

Nathan grinned again. “I just heard you mention that you were afraid of the President and me!”

Sherman refuted the man subconsciously, “I was talking about the President and the Chief Military Governor...”

He finally came to a startling revelation before he finished his sentence.

Bewildered, he widened his eyes at Nathan and croaked, “What did you just say? Are you saying that you're the Chief Military Governor?”

“Why? Do you think the title doesn't befit me, or do you think I don't look like a Chief Military Governor?”

Sherman was flabbergasted and reprimanded, “Nonsense! How can you be the Chief Military Governor?

“Who doesn't know the fact that you've offended Clifford Davier and that the Cabinet has actually terminated you. You're just a mere paper tiger.

“The Chief Military Governor is a formidable man who leads Eurasia to triumph over other nations. Unlike you, he's on a crest of a wave right now.

“How dare a loser like you impersonate the great man?”

Meanwhile, in the house.

With the notion in mind, he snorted at Nathan, “Cross, how dare you impersonate the Chief Military Governor. I guess you had no idea that he's visiting the Channing military district these two days. You have a death wish for impersonating the man!

“Besides, I know the man personally. Just two days ago, I sent him a Seven Stars Dagger as a gift. He will not let you off easy if he knew that you had harmed me.”

Colin and the others were flabbergasted when they noticed his reluctance to believe that Nathan was indeed the Chief Military Governor.

All of them sneered at him at the man's audacity at attempting to threaten Nathan, and by referencing the Chief Military Governor, no less.

Nathan's lips angled into a smile, “Is this the gift that you've given to the Chief Military Governor?”

Nathan waved the dagger in front of Sherman, the dagger that he used to peel the pear just moments ago.

By then, Sherman had only noticed that Nathan was actually holding the Seven Stars Dagger, the very same one that he had gifted to the Chief Military Governor just days ago.

His eyes almost popped out of his socket at the sight of the dagger. With a crackly voice, he demanded, “Isn't this the gift that I've given to the Chief Military Governor? Why is it with you?”

Stupefied, the man finally came to a startling realization.

A sense of despair washed over him as his heart sank.
