When Nathan got out of Nomo Restaurant, a black car suddenly showed up and stopped right in front of him.
Colin got out of the driver's seat and walked around to open the door for Nathan.
Nathan got in to the back seat.
After that, Colin returned to the driver's seat and fired up the engine. He drove slowly and steadily.
“Where should we go now, Mr. Cross?”
“To the Crystal Hotel.”
“Understood,” replied Colin as he drove, “the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor sent a message over.
Nathan sat in the backseat with his eyes closed. It seemed that he was resting when he asked nonchalantly, “What's the message?”
Colin replied, “Sage Tomlinson of the governor's office said that members of the Davier family visited a few times lately. They asked to see the Chief Military Governor.”
Nathan's lips curved upward, and a skin-deep grin showed up. “What is the Davier family up to this time?” asked Nathan.
Colin replied, “The second in command of the Davier family, Mr. Valois Davier, has a daughter named Sophia Davier. Rumor is that she is stunning, graceful, and intelligent and that the Davier family wants her to marry the Chief Military Governor. They want to join forces with you.
A marriage? Clifford wants his niece to marry me?
Nathan's eyes bulged. Strangely, he found it both hilarious and infuriating.
Colin then added, “You weren't there, so they didn't know what to tell the Davier family. Sage asked for your instructions.”
“Is there even a need to ask me about it? Just reject them,” replied Nathan calmly.
Colin said, “Understood. I will have them work on it immediately.”
Sage was waiting at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor when he received the orders to reject the Davier family's offer.
Nathan instructed him to be cruel and direct, but Sage thought about how the military's budget came from the Cabinet.
Clifford is the secretary of the Cabinet, and even the Chief Military Governor can't afford to offend the guy that mindlessly
Hence, Sage disobeyed his instructions and was polite when he rejected the Davier family's offer.
That was understandable since the Chief Military Governor's power was growing exponentially, and countless women dreamed of marrying him.
The butler saw how disappointed Sophia looked, so she quickly said some comforting words. “You don't need to be that disappointed, though,” informed the butler, “The Chief Military Governor claimed that he is focused on serving the country and isn't thinking about getting married just yet. He simply didn't want to make you wait. Clifford and your father said that there may be a way to turn things around. They plan on hiring someone to talk to the Chief Military Governor about it and try to convince him to change his mind.”
Sophia's eyes glowed.
She got pumped up and lifted her beautiful face up. She smiled and scoffed, “I am graceful, sexy, and come from a powerful family. Countless men tried to court me on a regular basis, and I refuse to believe that the Chief Military Governor won't be into me. I'll go to him in person and conquer his heart!”
“Callie, Summer.”
Two female bodyguards with short hair immediately showed up in front of Sophia. They spoke simultaneously, “How may we be of servicer"
Sophia instructed in an arrogant tone, “Send someone to monitor the Chief Military Governor.
It'd be best if you can get ahold of his schedule. I want to plan everything and meet him under the perfect setting to captivate his heart.”
After hearing those words, everyone on-site knew that Sophia had decided to seduce the Chief Military Governor.
Callie and Summer answered at the same time, “Understood!”
