Soon after, Nathan got back to the temporary base for the Eurasia fleet with Colin and the Elite Eight.
He saw that about two thousand men each from Eurasia and Ferropene were having a face-off.
“Silence!” Nathan demanded sternly.
His voice was like thunder, resonating into everyone's ear. It was as though a lightning strike had hit everyone as they all expressed discomfort on their faces. The whole space was instantly quiet.
“General Cross!” The soldiers from Dragon Warriors approached and bowed to greet Nathan.
Nathan noticed that one of his majors was covered in blood and looked like he was seriously injured.
“Tommy, what happened to you?” Nathan pointed at him and asked.
Initially, two soldiers were helping to steady Tommy as he stood, but he immediately pushed them away when Nathan called out his name. He struggled as he approached the general. “Sir, two of our men went out to get some booze.
Along the way, they heard a woman shouting for help, so they followed the voice, thinking to help her out.”
Tommy took a deep breath. “But when they found the source in an alleyway, there was only a Jetroina woman with her clothes disheveled.
That woman even latched on to them and accused them of defiling her, screaming for help... “
There was another brief pause as Tommy was in a lot of pain. “Right after that, a bunch of soldiers from the Conquerors nearby showed up and reprimanded our men for being sexual offenders, beating them down in the process. I caught wind of it and immediately went over to try and mediate, but the Ferropene soldiers gave me no chance and went at me as well. If the others didn't reach me in time, I think I would've died.”
Tommy's report shocked and infuriated Nathan.
“Why did you go there alone?”
“I wanted to control the situation, Sir. I didn't want the conflict to escalate, so I wanted to try settling it peacefully,” Tommy replied.
“You guys say my soldiers molested the woman. My soldiers tell me you're framing them. Right now, this fight is meaningless. As far as I know, Avenport is an important military base. There are security cameras everywhere. We'll find out who's speaking the truth soon enough if we take a look at the security footage.”
Beor snickered. “It's a pity that the security cameras nearby all malfunctioned. Thus, there is no footage recorded.”
“Oh? What a coincidence. Or perhaps you people were the ones that broke them in the first place, plotting to frame my men from the very beginning?”
Beor was taken aback by Nathan's piercing gaze, feeling a little guilty. “What did you just say?” He was exasperated. “Your soldiers are clearly at fault. Tonight, we draw the line here. Give those two to us. I want to execute them right here right now.”
Ha paused. “If you don't, don't blame us for what happens next.”
Nathan had a faint smile on his face, “My officer was trying to reason with you guys, so he went there alone, attempting to solve things peacefully. But you people actually pummeled him to the floor. Now you're even threatening 7W
He shook his head slowly. “I wanted to settle this peacefully, but being polite doesn't seem to work with gangsters like you. In the end, dogs need to get beaten before they start obeying.”
