Henry Lancaster hadn't immediately brought Nathan with him back to Alberesque, but instead went to the detention center in Channing first.
Henry had Nathan locked up in a holding cell, then gave orders to the person-in-charge, Chase Li. "I want you to put some men in the same holding cell as Nathan."
"What kind of men do you have in mind, Captain Lancaster?" asked Chase in surprise.
Right then, the towering, muscular, and tan Zander Zabinksi walked in, with eight ruthless-looking men following after him.
Henry pointed to the men. "Them. You just need to arrange for them to be in the same cell as Nathan; don't worry about anything else."
Chase looked at the men who just walked in. In the lead was Zander Zabinski, looking steady and calm, but with eyes that were screaming bloody murder.
He could easily see that Zander was someone who was on the run from the law and very likely had a lot of blood of his hands.
To put these kind of men - men who had nothing to lose - in the same cell as Nathan, strongly indicated that Captain Lancaster had no intention of bringing Nathan back to Alberesque alive. He was going to have him killed right then and there.
This realization alarmed him. "Captain Lancaster, those people don't look particularly friendly. If I put them in the same cell as Nathan and something happens to him, then I'll be in big trouble!"
Henry narrowed his eyes at him. "Do you know why I came here all the way from Alberesque just to take care of one measly Nathan Cross?"
Chase shook his head. "I don't know."
"Because Mr. Turner ordered me so!” answered Henry aloofly.
Chase's eyes widened and his voice quivered. "Mr. Turner? Which Mr. Turner?"
Henry snorted. "Who else do you think? There's only one Mr. Turner and that's the King of the South."
Chase staggered backwards in shock. So this punk Nathan crossed the King of the South, Mr. Turner?
No wonder Henry and his men came all the way to Channing from Alberesque. No wonder Henry so brazenly wants to place men inside Nathan's cell. He's working under Mr. Turner's orders!
Which meant if Nathan did end up dead in that holding cell, no one would even bat an eye.
Because in the South, Mr. Turner's words were law.
Clang!
The door to the holding cell was locked again.
Nathan, Zander, and his men were left alone in the not-so-spacious holding cell.
Nathan spared a glance at Zander and noticed that he shared some of the same features as Finley and Charles. "A Zabinski?" chuckled Nathan.
Zander retrieved white hand wraps from his pocket and began to carefully wrap his right hand. His eyes shone with hunger and malice. "Kingston Zabinski is my father. And today is the day you die, punk!"
The eight men that were with Zander also whipped out their weapons, including daggers and brass knuckles — weapons that were great for close combat.
They obviously had come prepared and were determined to finish off Nathan right there.
Nathan stood up, looking disinterested. "You pieces of trash think you can kill me?
