The host's cold gaze landed on Nathan Cross and Penny Smith.
"Nathan Cross, Penny Smith, who would have thought that the two of you would land in my hands one day? I bet you have never expected something like this to happen?" Shannon Russo said, tilting up her chin haughtily.
Immediately after Shannon Russo said that more than fifty men in black suits suddenly showed up in the reception hall.
These men, who swiftly encircled Nathan and Penny, were all armed with sabers and seemed to be professionally trained.
At that very instance, everyone's focus was on Nathan Cross and Penny Smith.
Most of the other guests had looks of sympathy on their faces as they cast glances at the couple.
As for Sean Smith and the other members of the Smith family, they had already distanced themselves as far as they could, pretending not to be associated to Nathan or Penny.
The color drained from Penny Smith's face as she grabbed her husband's arm tightly, seeing that they had been surrounded by these hired men armed with weapons.
On the other hand, Nathan was unfazed. With a glint of disdain in his eyes, he said in a normal tone, "Shannon Russo, it seems like you haven't learned your lesson yet even after getting those slaps from me previously."
The woman was smoldering with resentment when Nathan brought that shameful incident up.
Shannon Russo glared at Nathan Cross with hatred as she said, "How dare you bring that up again! No one had ever had the guts to put me through such humiliation. But that's alright, because you know what? Every dog has its day. Tonight, I'll make sure both of you beg for mercy. I want you to kneel down in front of me right now!"
Nathan Cross replied with a smirk,
"Shannon Russo, it looks like you've got a brain, but it seems to be filled with air. Do you think I'll be scared of those good-for-nothing men and their lousy weapons? And you even want me to kneel down before you? Are you joking?"
Shannon Russo was furious at once when she heard Nathan Cross's provocation. Then she shouted abruptly, "Leo, give him a hand! Break his legs and make him kneel down!"
"Yes, Ms. Shannon!"
The beefy Leo, who was also clad in a black suit, had a malicious grin on his face as he strode towards Nathan Cross.
There were people among the crowd who had recognized Leo and let out gasps of surprise, "Oh dear! Isn't that the former top hit-man, Leo?!"
"No one is able to withstand an attack by Leo!"
"It looks like doomsday is coming for Nathan Cross!"
Leo quickened his steps and leaped towards Nathan. With a condescending sneer, he said, "Dude, get down on your knees!"
Nathan's leg landed right in the back of Leo's head.
Leo went quiet at once, as he slumped unconscious onto the ground.
Silence ensued in the hall. There wasn't a single person who was not dumbfounded after witnessing the scene.
Nathan Cross stood tall with his hands crossed behind his back. Fixing his gaze on the stunned Shannon Russo and he asked indifferently, "So, do I still have to kneel down?"
Shannon Russo snapped out of her daze at once and took out a snub-nosed revolver from her purse. She pointed the gun at Nathan Cross, her lips suddenly twisted into a mirthless smile. "You're indeed a good fighter and even Leo is not your match. However, no matter how formidable you are, do you think you would be able to beat a gun?" the woman asked.
Nathan Cross smirked and replied, "Do you mean that lousy gun you're holding right now? Don't make me laugh."
Shannon Russo snickered and answered, "Even this lousy gun is enough to kill you a thousand times over!"
"Oh, really? Why don't you look around and see how many times you have to die with all those guns pointing at you?” Nathan Cross cackled.
While Shannon Russo was still perplexed by what the man said, the ten National Guards around Franklin Wilson had held up their submachine guns in unison and pointed at her.
