Chapter 409 Unwelcome novel Salute To The General (Nathan Cross)
A few hours later, they arrived at the Arlington Airport.
No one from the Maxwell family came to receive them, so they took a cab there.
After a tumultuous two-hour ride, they finally arrived at Leah's family home, the Arlington Maxwell Mansion.
The Maxwell family was a reputable family in Arlington. There were two stone statues by the door, giving it a majestic feel.
The porch was already filled with several luxury cars. Even the cheapest ones were Mercedes Benz, Porsche, or Range Rovers.
There were several Bentleys and Rolls-Royces as well.
In fact, the majority of the cars were sports cars.
Penny exclaimed, "Mum, I didn't know grandpa is so rich!”
Leah stroked her hair and sighed, "Yep, they're considered a rich family in
Arlington."
That day was Butch Maxwell's seventieth birthday. He was wearing a ceremonial dress and holding onto his second wife, Sasha. Several family members were at the door welcoming the guests as well.
When Leah saw her father, she knelt down and sobbed. "Father, happy birthday."
Suddenly, the entire venue turned their eyes toward Leah and Nathan and started to murmur between themselves.
Butch only allowed them to attend his birthday celebration because he heard that Leah's daughter was successful.
He had not expected them to come in a cab. His face fell.
Everyone else had come in luxury cars.
The fact that his own daughter had come in a cab was shameful to him.
He glanced at Leah and commented indifferently, "No need forthat. I have many guests today, so I probably won't have the time to entertain your family. Just head inside and find a seat."
When Jericho knew that Leah's family had come, he was shocked and furious.
Butch Maxwell only had two children -Leah and Jericho.
After Leah had not contacted them for the past few decades, Jericho felt that she must be after Butch's inheritance for appearing here so suddenly.
He walked over and sneered, "You actually came."
Leah got up and greeted him, "It's been awhile, brother."
Jericho scoffed. "Don't call me brother. You're no sister of mine, and my father has already disowned you. If I were you, I wouldn't have returned so shamelessly.”
Leah bit her lip. "Dad told me to attend his birthday celebration."
Jericho declared coldly, "I'm a straightforward man, so let me tell you this straight out. I do not welcome you. After you're done eating, scram! Not that I want to threaten you, but the fact remains that I can make people vanish from Arlington easily."
