Shuffle…
A group of people rushed out of Higurashi Shrine. The shrine was also brightly lit up on the inside. In fact, there were even sounds of a bell tolling.
Ding-dong, ding-dong, ding-dong!
The ringing went on for nine instances.
Higurashi Shrine wasn’t located far away from the residential areas in Japan. The nine tollings were loud enough to alert the citizens down below. The sound of a bell tolling woke up countless people who had entered their dreams long ago.
“What happened?”
“It sounds like the bell on Mount Higurashi. It tolled nine times in the middle of the night. Something major has happened!”
“Hurry! Let’s go and see if they need help!”
“Call the cops!”
Suddenly, all the citizens panicked.
The citizens residing down the foot of Mount Higurashi were basically loyal believers at Higurashi Shrine. As soon as they heard that something happened in Higurashi Shrine, many of them started running up the mountain in the middle of the night.
However, they soon discovered that something wasn’t right.
In the past, they could easily climb up Mount Higurashi. However, it now felt as if a huge rock was weighing them down. The further up they went, the bigger the pressure. Some old er folks, especially, felt heavy in their feet after taking the first step. Before even making fifty meters forward, they couldn’t take it anymore.
These people were panting heavily, and they felt as if their feet had been injected with lead. It also felt like their hearts couldn’t take it. Hence, many of the older folks retreated down the mountain.
The kids did the same. They were all amazed by the young people heading up the mountain.
“What exactly is going on? Why is it so hard to climb Mount Higurashi?”
“Could a miracle have occurred? I heard that the divine lord has been in isolation for twenty years. Could he have finally come out?”
“Huh? That’s worthy of a great celebration! The divine lord was the first swordsman in Japan. Now that he’s come out of isolation, does that mean he’s become a god? I think he should be called the first swordsman in the continent, the first swordsman in the world, and the strongest expert in the world!”
Or was Alex a legendary martial arts grandmaster?
Clara was too surprised. Alex was once her high school classmate, a male student with whom she was very familiar. She even coerced him into agreeing to be her shield, and she jokingly proposed to him.
In the end, he turned out to be this powerful.
Seeing how the Fairy Doctor unfalteringly attacked Aurelius, and she didn’t seem to care about killing someone at all, Clara wondered if Alex had also killed someone before. Was he… Was he a murderer?
With all sorts of strange emotions in her heart, Clara entered the house. In the end, she discovered her parents all dressed up. They seemed as if they were about to head out. “Dad, Mom, where are you going this late?” she asked curiously.
“Oh, Clara, you’re home. That’s great!” Clara’s mother said.
“Your father and I are heading over to Mount Higurashi. Please look after the house,” she added.
“Huh, why are you going to Mount Higurashi?” Clara asked.
“The bell on Mount Higurashi tolled nine times. Everyone’s saying that the divine lord of Higurashi Shrine has come out of isolation. He’s become a living god through ascension to the Void Shattering stage. Your father and I are going there and get a bit of fairy energy!” Clara’s mother answered.
