Athena’s combat power was, without a doubt, the strongest there was.
The golden lance, the invincible scepter that would transform from time to time, let out a chant of incantations. She was a dual practitioner of martial arts.
“Retreat!”
Suddenly, Athena rushed back from the circle of battle, her golden armor covered in blood.
Neela was not too far from Alex, and she resumed her human form for the time being and stood by his side.
“The enemy has not been defeated completely. Why are we retreating?” Alex asked.
Although the battle looked difficult, the fight was, in fact, exceptionally easy. He felt that they would be able to wipe out the puppet immortals completely in another hour or two.
Athena gasped, her breathing shallow. “It’s dissipating.”
The instant the words left her mouth, the holy feathers on Alex and Neela suddenly dissipated, like a soap bubble that had burst.
The continuous stream of courage, strength, and divine powers that washed over their nerves also receded like a flood.
“Ugh…”
Looking at the army of puppets that were still pouring in, Alex let loose his flying swords into a formation, circling forward to cut them down.
Unfortunately…
Without the boost of power from Athena, he found that his killing powers had reduced drastically. Before this, one slash from his sword would suffice to cut them down, but now it wouldn’t even cut through.
Only at this point did he realize one thing.
The puppet immortals he and Neela had encountered before were far stronger than the current ones. Before this, Alex could still cut them down with the little tricks he used, but it was now so much harder to do so.
The situation had changed.
Alex was now left in a precarious position. At this critical moment, Neela rushed over. She transformed into her dragon form and used her giant body to push the enemy back.
Donovan was dumbfounded, and his eyes were filled with envy and jealousy.
Having a Benares Dragon as a pet there was actually such a wonderful use!
Such a divine beast saw favor in the eyes of both heaven and earth. How could some cheapass person like Alex have it? It should belong to him!
Alex was confident once more.
He was about to unleash another ultimate move and continue attacking the puppet immortals when Athena suddenly flashed forward and grabbed him. “Retreat!”
“Ugh?! But…”
Athena did not explain but dragged him directly inside. Then, she waved her hands, intending to close the shrine doors.
But at this moment, the bronze doors vibrated violently, and a woman’s voice echoed out, “Athena, my sister. Are you dead?”
