"You can't go on without eating. Get up and have something to drink."

Frey lay motionless, staring at the gauze decoration above her head.

Nathaniel, frustrated, stood up and took a large sip of the soup.

He leaned over, grabbed her chin, and forced her to open her mouth, pouring the soup in.

Frey, unprepared, choked and tried to hit him, but Nathaniel held her tightly, lifting her head.

He kissed her hard, the taste of soup and despair mingling between them. They fought like monsters, biting and torturing each other, neither willing to let the other off easily.

Moonlight was obscured by drifting clouds, and desperate gasps filled the bedroom. They were breaking each other apart, piece by piece.

The next morning was cloudy. During breakfast, Nathaniel and Frey were still absent. Peyton, restless, stood up but was stopped by Koen.

"Are you trying to push her to the brink of death?" she growled.

Koen led Peyton outside to the garden.
