4 found a random excuse and said it perfunctorily: “You know what the situation is, don’t you?” 

“Yes.” He answered calmly. 

“So you know how vulnerable I am now,” I continued. “I can’t just leave the Alpha Palace like that. I have to be me rarefed with my me especially with my current condition.” 

There was a long panse before he spoke again. “Trust me Melanie, I’m more worried about your safety than anyone else rige www. The th your protection is something that constantly weighs on my mind at the moment 

He cut me off before I could continue. “The restaurant’s close to the Alpha Palace so you don’t have to worry, just give it a thought Okay? 

I didn’t say anything for a while. Without a word, I hung up the phone and set it aside. A small breath left my lips. 

Quentin. There had to be a reason why he wanted to meet up so bad, I held my breath as a thought hit me. 

Did he want to establish a mate relationship with me? 

My gaze dropped to the crystal bracelet on my hand. He’d given this to me. Back then, I had thought it meant he was ready to establish a mate relationship with me. 

But he never gave a positive answer to my question. I should have known better. Even now, after so much time has passed, his words still echoed in my head. 

I can’t really give you an answer, Melanie. Everything depends on the Moon God’s arrangement. 

I let out a breath. It would do well for me to give his proposition some thought, but a part of me was keen on going there. 

Letting out another breath, I went to my closet to look for something appropriate to wear.

By the time I arrived at the restaurant, The restaurant was running out of people. A man in uniform opened the door for me to walk in. 

All through the ride there, I’d been a bubble of nerves as I didn’t know what to expect from Quentin. 

As soon as I walked in, I spotted Quentin at a far end of the restaurant. His gaze was far away, like he had something else on his mind. For a second he raised them, scouring the room for something, or in this case, someone. 

Once his eyes landed on me, they softened immediately. I took that as my sign to go up to meet him. 

“I’m glad you took me up on my offer.” He started, getting up to take out my seat for me. 

“Don’t flatter yourself.” I rolled my eyes. 

He simply hummed, taking his seat back. “I ordered 

us 

some juice.” 

“Thank you.” I replied curtly, helping myself to a glass. 

Quentin’s gaze was fixed on me, like he couldn’t just look away. And rightfully so. For the occasion, I’d decided on a black bandeau dress that went just a little above my knees. I paired it with some silver jewellery and some black shoes. 

His eyes roamed over my exposed. shoulders shamelessly. When he caught my eyes, he looked away just briefly, grabbing a glass of water and taking a sip. 

“Did you ever consider it?” he asked suddenly. 

“Consider what?” I took another drink of my juice. 

The intensity of his stare never wavered as he spoke. “Whether you’d be my mate? Before you met Jack that is. Did you ever want to be my mate?

My eyes widened right before I choked on the juice, It was hard getting the coughs out of control as I let his question roll over in my head. 

“Sorry.” He held out a glass of water for me. “Have some.” 

Isent him a weak glare, taking the water from him and taking a few gulps. Of all the questions to ask. I never knew he could be so condescending and hard–hearted. The last thing I expected was for him to be self–absorbed too, all in one day.
