Chapter 53
Chapter 53
“Melanie.”
I raised my head to see Askhan making his way towards me. His eyes had a warm glow to them as he regarded me.
“What’s that?” He gestured at the potion in my hands.
“The potion from Olavir.” I answered.
He raised an eyebrow. “I’m sure Olavir has other dictates, like not allowing you to take it alone.”
>
yir had told me to wait till he was back but was there really a point? The clear liquid seemed a bit ominous the longer I stared at it. Well, there’s no chickening out now.
“Would you like to join me on an adventure?” I spoke with the same seductive and seductive tone as the witch in the werewolf fairy tale, “Just you and
me.”
I opened the bottle while staring into Askhan’s eyes.
Askhan nods in resignation.
Closing my eyes, I threw the liquid back, making sure to take every single last drop. It tasted…oddly sweet. Not bitter like I’d initially imagined it would
The pain hit me like a stray bullet. I doubled over, my knees buckling and bringing me to the ground.
My whole body felt like it had been lit on fire as a hot searing pain raged through all parts of my body.
I could barely make out the sound of Askhan yelling my name in concern. The only thing I could make sense of was the pain.
“Take Emma back to her room now!” Askhan’s voice boomed in my ear.
“Mom?”
I could barely make out Emma’s soft concerned voice before she was whisked away by a maid. I raised my head to look at Askhan as he kneeled down to my level.
“Melanie?” He sounded worried.
And yet for some odd reason, I wanted to hit him for that stupid look on his face. “Get the hell out of my sight.”
He frowned, the look of worry on his face. I barely got to talk again when a loud scream left my pain. It was like someone was impaling all parts of my body with hot pipes of steel.
Askhan turned to the servants who were all watching us fearfully. “Get out. Now!”
They all hurried away, their footsteps pattering against the tiled floor as they left. I pulled on my head, feeling a guttural growl leave my lips
Was that my voice? Nothing made sense anymore. The growl left my lips again, my body contorting as I got on all fours.
My vision slowly blurred into a deep red while strands of fur pierced out of my skin. The change came almost immediately. My senses were sharper and my hunger less satiable.
“Melanie, Don’t worry. I’ll always be by your side. ” Askhan slowly said, his eyes never leaving me, at the same time he walked firmly towards me.
Our distance slowly closed and his scent flooded my nose, it was such a pleasant smell.
My wolf lunged for Askhan in a flash, biting into his shoulder without mercy. He let out a small hiss but didn’t attack back
“Melanie, I’m here for you. I’m not gonna leave you.” He continued, despite the injury he now had.
Despite the blur of red that filled my vision, I could hear small echoes of his voice coming to my ears.
Chapter 53
“Come back, Melanie.” He said, his voice the softest I’d ever known it to be.
