Lucas raised his gaze, his eyes locking on Evelyn.
She appeared composed, with her light and delicate makeup. The waist-hugging camel-colored coat accentuated her graceful figure. She stood, looking calm and collected.
Evelyn noticed his gaze, but she didn't look at him. She glanced down at her phone to check the time, confirming she wasn't late.
Beside her, Sebastian raised an eyebrow and smiled. "What a coincidence, Mr. Grant. Are you here for dinner?"
Only then did Tiffany notice the voices. She straightened herself and turned her head. When she saw Evelyn, her expression instantly turned colder.
Had it not been for her urgency to have Lucas handle the divorce, she would've had Evelyn locked up just to make her suffer.
Throughout all this, she continued to rest her hand on Lucas' arm.
Lucas nodded, then casually suggested, "A few friends and I are having dinner. If you don't mind, would you like to join us?"
He didn't seem to mind that Evelyn was with Sebastian.
Tiffany shot Lucas a glance, his brows furrowing slightly before she understood.
Lucas was simply being polite to Sebastian. After all, he had just divorced Evelyn. There was no way he genuinely wanted to dine with his ex-wife. That would be awkward!
Sebastian smiled lightly as he played along. "Unfortunately, I have other plans tonight. Next time."
Lucas nodded, his posture still regal. "Then I won't keep you."
At no point did he acknowledge Evelyn. His indifference was apparent.
Evelyn didn't mind and continued to walk inside with Sebastian. Just then, as they neared their private room, they bumped into Mason and Jason ascending the stairs. Evelyn briefly met their eyes.
Mason raised an eyebrow. He knew that Evelyn would find a way to make her presence known, so he got ready to say a few things to her when she walked by, but instead, Evelyn nonchalantly averted her gaze, ignoring him completely.
She spared him no glances.
Mason was taken aback, watching as Evelyn and Sebastian entered the private room. As the door swung open and shut, he caught sight of the people sitting inside.
She saw Evelyn walking toward Graham and offering him the gift she had brought.
Tiffany's lips curled into a tight smile. It turned out that Evelyn was just trying to flatter Graham.
"I just don't get it. Why would Sebastian bring Evelyn to meet with Professor Hill? Is there some ulterior motive?"
Mason walked up to Lucas, clearly puzzled.
Lucas didn't seem surprised, and his gaze was still cool as he turned toward their private room. "Do you want to ask them?"
Mason clicked his tongue. "That's their private matter. If we barge in, we'd only get on Professor Hill's bad side. Let Tiffany go and greet them instead."
Tiffany pursed her lips. She had met with Graham before, and it hadn't gone well. He didn't seem very interested in her, let alone her thesis. Trying to arrange another meeting with him would be even harder now.
But Evelyn could now easily have dinner with Graham by relying on Sebastian. Tiffany looked down on her for it.
