Evelyn slipped away for some peace and quiet. She was a little hungry, so she picked up a plate of desserts to nibble on.

Feeling thirsty, she scanned the drinks available. She could not tell which ones were low in alcohol, so she reached for a drink that looked more like juice.

A slender hand pressed lightly over the rim of the glass.

Evelyn looked up, and her eyes met Lucas' deep gaze. Her expression went cold immediately out of instinct.

Lucas did not seem to mind her expression and moved the drink aside. "Aren't you alcohol intolerant?"

Evelyn frowned slightly, not knowing how to respond for a second.

He was not wrong. She was alcohol intolerant, though not severely.

What surprised Evelyn was that he was aware of it, though Lucas had always been observant. Even if he had always been distant during their three years of marriage, it was not hard to believe he would remember such a detail.

She let go of the drink without another word.

Lucas was probably here to grab a drink himself. Seeing that she did not speak up, he glanced at the drinks and passed her a different glass.

"Have this instead," he said and walked off with a glass of wine as if he had only helped her while he was at it.

Evelyn looked down at her glass of juice with a slight frown. No more emotions stirred within her.

At that moment, Graham entered the venue.

The evening's key guest had arrived.

Sebastian broke free from the crowd and came to find Evelyn. "Come on, let's go talk to him. Tell him what you've been reading lately."

Graham believed that as long as Evelyn reviewed the material, she would have no problems with it.

"Professor Hill, I heard from Lucas that you're planning to accept a student this year. Although I've already completed my master's degree in Erana, the journey of learning never ends. I would like to apply for the spot and continue my studies under you."

Evelyn's expression turned cold instantly.
