Evelyn wasn't in good shape.
Her condition wasn't stable to begin with, and she had devoted all her energy to preparing for tonight's banquet. Lucas had thrown her off her rhythm by bringing Tiffany here.
Her body started to feel hot. She took out her medicine from her bag and mechanically tossed two pills into her mouth.
She tried to suppress the aching feeling coming from her abdomen.
Not knowing how much time had passed, she realized she had missed a call from Sebastian. She picked up the second call.
"Sebastian?"
"Where are you?"
Evelyn looked at her sickly appearance in the mirror. "I'm outside. I'll be right back."
"Come to the entrance. There will be a separate dinner party later, but… your husband and his mistress will be there, so it's alright if you don't go."
Evelyn considered it. Having decided to return to this line of work, she wouldn't be able to avoid seeing Tiffany in the future. All she could do was give her all in whatever she chose.
"It's fine. I'll be there."
Evelyn reapplied her makeup and went out after making sure everything was in place.
Donald was also participating in this dinner party, so they chose to go to a low-profile restaurant that had private rooms.
They booked a large room with two tables that were separated by a curtain.
Lucas and Tiffany were seated on the opposite side, so Evelyn finally had the chance to converse with Donald. Sebastian leaned in to whisper something into his ear.
Donald saw Evelyn in a new light. "You're…"
However, her identity was a secret. He quickly schooled his expression and couldn't help but exclaim, "It's no wonder Mr. Hill thinks highly of you, Ms. Reed. Forgive me for not recognizing you."
Evelyn gave a faint smile. "It's my pleasure to be acquainted with you, Mr. Stewart."
Lucas' group noticed Evelyn chatting happily with Donald at this moment. Even Tiffany glanced over at them several times.
She felt that it was odd. What did Evelyn have in common with Donald to be able to converse with him?
"How pretentious. She almost had me fooled by her acting." Mason laughed and glanced at Tiffany. "She has no understanding of policies, technology, nor Flying Seal Group's core. It's impressive that she can still hold a conversation with Mr. Stewart."
Tiffany smiled faintly and didn't voice her thoughts. She knew what Mason meant.
He implied that Evelyn was merely copying her. Evelyn was imitating Tiffany to a T after seeing how Tiffany had hit it off with Donald.
She didn't care what Evelyn did. Lowering her voice, she told Lucas, "It's a shame that Professor Hill isn't here today."
Evelyn was a little unsure of how to respond. Blake had changed, and he no longer told her anything about himself. She even had to hear news of him from someone else.
"I'm… not sure."
"How could you not know about your brother's affairs? Ms. Reed, are you keeping things under wraps for Mr. Harrison's sake?"
Evelyn was subconsciously reluctant to talk about Blake. She rubbed her still-aching abdomen and murmured to Sebastian, "I'm heading to the restroom."
Sebastian saw her pale face and asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"
Evelyn nodded. "I'm fine."
She got up and headed out.
She felt as if thunder was roaring in her ears. She was already doing her best to deal with a fever, but now she walked with a dizzy head.
While walking, she lost the strength in her legs and collapsed. She accidentally knocked over the teapot placed on the table.
A pair of strong arms caught her.
The room was quickly filled with cries of alarm.
