Evelyn's grip on her fork tightened instinctively as her gaze wavered for a moment.

Sophia didn't miss that fleeting reaction. The smile on her lips deepened as she nudged her phone closer to Lucas, pressing for an answer. "Lucas, do you like it or not?"

Lucas' sharp gaze landed on the screen. His expression remained utterly indifferent. Then, without a word, he shot Sophia a warning look.

She immediately shrank back and retracted her phone. She knew Lucas and Tiffany weren't publicly official yet. She had only done this out of curiosity—to gauge Evelyn's reaction. She didn't mean to actually anger Lucas.

"What's going on over there?" Maria noticed the odd atmosphere.

"Nothing, Grandma." Sophia grinned mischievously. "I just showed Lucas something he really liked.

Maria didn't understand what they were talking about. She simply patted Sophia's head and let it go.

Meanwhile, Evelyn kept her head down with an expression as calm as still water. Like an outsider, she watched a so-called enviable love story unfold.

After finishing his meal, Lucas went upstairs without a word. Maria frowned. "He disappears the second I turn around. Evie, go call him down."

Evelyn had been thinking of an excuse to leave, but with Maria's request, she had no choice but to hold off. She made her way upstairs and knocked on the door.

There was no response. She hesitated briefly before pushing it open just in time to see Lucas coming out of the bathroom.

His hair was still wet from the shower, and he had changed into casual wear. His broad shoulders, trim waist, and well-defined muscles were visible beneath the fabric.

He was holding a phone in his hand, and he appeared to be in the middle of a conversation.

Evelyn froze in place as forbidden thoughts flashed through her mind. Sophia had just shown him a sultry photo of Tiffany. Now he had gone straight upstairs to shower.

And at this very moment, he was still chatting with someone—if it was Tiffany, was it possible she had sent him even more private photos? If so, the timing of his shower suddenly took on an entirely different meaning.

"What are you thinking?" Lucas' clear voice pulled her back to reality as he approached. As he moved, the loose fabric of his black pants shifted slightly.

Lucas glanced at her, understanding her intent. "You can ask Evelyn if you want to know how healthy I am."

Evelyn's entire body stiffened. The awkwardness of the situation left her momentarily at a loss because she couldn't deny it. Lucas' health was impeccable, especially in certain aspects. Even after three years without love between them, in that particular area, he had never once let her down.

"You brat! Can't you be a little more reserved?" Maria scolded, clearly embarrassed. She smacked him hard on the back. "Sit down!"

Lucas didn't argue and took his seat. He remained silent as Rick took his pulse. After a long moment, Rick smiled and said, "Your pulse is strong, and your overall vitality is excellent."

Lucas withdrew his hand calmly and glanced at Maria. "Are you satisfied now?"

Relieved, Maria nodded, but she still had a cup of tonic brought over. "Drink this—it's good for your health."

Seeing how insistent she was, Lucas didn't argue. Without even asking what it was, he took the cup and drank it in one go.

Maria beamed with satisfaction before turning to Evelyn, who looked deep in thought. "Evie, come here and let Dr. Hart check you as well."
