Felix had met Stinger several times and thought he was decent. He was Kane’s right–hand man, after all. But he was already facing rebellion right after taking over. 

“If it were Kane, I’d be on my knees apologizing and wiping the debt. It’s a shame you only know Stinger.” Just as Hunter finished, a car pulled up, and Stinger stepped out. 

“Stinger! What an honor! What brings you to our shop?” In a heartbeat, Hunter’s tune changed. He was now all smiles and bows. 

“Mr. Zeller.” Ignoring Hunter, Stinger went straight to Felix and bowed. Hunter’s eyes widened. It seemed this young guy was a bigger fish than he thought. 

“Give me your account number. I’ll transfer now.” Felix kept it short. Proving his earlier bravado, Hunter coughed up his account details. 

When the text alert pinged, Hunter checked and frowned. “500 thousand dollars? What’s the deal?” 

Felix pocketed his phone. “I told you the price changes when Stinger shows up. Now, you only deserve 500 thousand for the principal.” 

Stinger shot Hunter a sideways glance. “Got a problem with that?” 

Hunter forced a laugh. “No way, Stinger. With you here, I wouldn’t dare complain even if I had balls of steel.” 

With that, Hunter scurried off with his crew. Stinger was about to speak, but Felix beat him to it. He asked with a smile, “You got this under control?” 

Taking a deep breath, Stinger said, “Mr. Zeller, trust me on this. It’s just growing pains; some rats are trying to play both sides. Give me a week, and I’ll have Hunter kneeling before you and apologizing.” 

Felix nodded and left with Madeline. If Stinger could not handle Avesburgh’s underworld forces, he would not be worth Kane’s time training him. 

“This is where you’re living?” Felix was shocked to see Madeleine’s place. It was in a rundown part of town where the rent was merely five hundred dollars a month. 

“I have to pinch pennies where I can. It would be faster to pay off debts that way. 

Madeline started packing. Felix had insisted on giving her five million dollars. This city held nothing for her now. Plus, girls in her line of work often bounced to a new city to settle down once they had made their bank. Staying was not an option. 

As she finished up, Felix smiled and said, “Take care of yourself in the new place. I’ll drop by when I can. And when you tie the knot someday, don’t forget to invite me. I’ll be there
