“I thought you’d be so smitten with someone else that you wouldn’t even have the heart to listen to my concert,” Delilah said grumpily.

“All right, enough teasing! Leslie wasn’t poisoned at all. It was just a scheme she and Averill cooked up to get you. Think about it. If she really had been afflicted with such a rare poison, wouldn’t Gerald have informed you directly? Why go through Averill to reach you?” Delilah pointed out.
