Chapter 376
Upon entering, Felix found himself in a children’s bedroom. The spacious room contained over a dozen beds with children, though only three people were present to tend to them.
One was an elderly man who had to be Brandon, alongside Zara, whom Felix already knew. The third was a young man who must have been Brandon’s disciple. If not, he would not have been permitted to be here.”
“Felix!” Zara’s eyes brightened upon seeing his arrival, but her excitement was restrained. After all, Brandon was present. While Felix’s medical skills were impressive, they could not compare to Brandon, Dragonia’s third–best master healer.
“How are things?” Felix asked.
Zara’s eyes reddened as she watched a child thrashing against their restraints, clearly in agony. “Not good. I can’t identify the illness. It’s up to Dr. Quinn now.”
At another bedside, Brandon frowned as he removed a silver needle. While assisting him, Gale immediately turned to scold them, “Quiet! Get out if you can’t keep silent. Can’t you see Dr. Quinn is treating patients?”
Zara whispered to Felix, “That’s Gale, Brandon’s junior disciple. He’s got a bad temper, so don’t mind him.”
Felix was not concerned about the rudeness, as saving these children was the priority. Even if they could not cure them immediately, easing their pain would be good enough.
With a subtle gesture to Zara, Felix sat down to check a pulse. But he could not detect any obvious symptoms visually. After about a minute, his expression grew grave. “Dr. Quinn is right. This isn’t natural. Someone caused this to happen.”
Zara was taken aback. She had not detected anything, yet Felix reached this conclusion from just one pulse reading. Was the gap in their abilities really that vast?
Before she could speak, Gale turned toward them again with eyes full of disdain. “You brat, who let you in? Since when does Dr. Quinn’s diagnosis need your validation?”
Even Zara had enough. She said, “Gale, calm down, won’t you? We’re all here for the children. This is Felix, and I’d say his medical skills are way better than mine.”
Gale’s brow furrowed. Better than Zara? Impossible! He knew Zara ranked among the top young healers. Was she just trying to prevent him from scolding this newcomer? “I don’t care about his skills. Take him outside. He’s been disrupting Dr. Quinn’s work since he arrived. Understand?”
Felix gently pulled Zara aside but approached Brandon, who was intently studying a silver needle with furrowed brows. “Dr. Quinn, have you found anything?”
