“Lady Summers, you should take it. Everything’s under control right now,” Alistair suggested. 

Xena stepped aside and answered the video call, “Grandpa, what-” 

She stopped mid–sentence, her eyes widening in shock as the screen showed not Curtis, but a short elderly man with dark spots all over his face. 

“Lady Summers, it’s an honor to finally meet you,” the man said, instantly triggering Xena’s anxiety. 

“You’re Sonny Balcom!” she exclaimed. 

Indeed, this was Sonny, ranked second–to–last among the Thirteen Aces in the Super S- rank wanted criminals list, and the creator of Bloom Seeds. When Sonny’s name was mentioned, Alistair rushed over and immediately recognized Sonny too. 

“Well, well, Lady Summers seems to have quite a memory of us Thirteen Aces, recognizing me so quickly.” Sonny chuckled. 

Forcing herself to stay calm, Xena exchanged a glance with Alistair, who quickly left. She asked, “What do you want, Sonny?” 

“Oh, nothing much–just want to play a game!” Sonny smiled. “Since even an amateur like you managed to kill our God of Death from the Thirteen Aces, I’m really curious about your true capabilities.” 

Xena’s face changed as the realization hit her. “You used Bloom Seeds on these children just to kidnap my grandfather?” 

“Clever girl! Canraville isn’t exactly close to the Wolfie troops, and as a top fugitive, I have to be careful. While you were all focused on those poor children, you wouldn’t have time to check on your grandfather. It was quite easy to invite him over.” 

The camera moved, and Xena’s eyes filled with rage as she saw Curtis tied to a chair, gagged and unable to speak. Alistair returned and shook his head–they had confirmed that Curtis‘ guards had all been knocked unconscious, proving Sonny was not bluffing. 

Taking a deep breath, Xena said firmly, “Settle your grudges with me, Sonny. You’re one of the Thirteen Aces–if you want revenge, come after me, not my grandfather!” 

Sonny’s voice came through as the camera moved away from his face. “Patience! I said we’re playing a game. Play it well, and he might just survive, right?” 

Alistair received a message through his earpiece and passed it to Xena. “Lady Summers, they’re using equipment that’s preventing us from tracking the phone.”
