When Felix awoke the following day, he could hardly believe how easily things had progressed with Xena, especially without having to deal with Curtis. He quickly checked his body, but his face fell as he made a shocking discovery. 

“How is this possible?” he muttered, noticing that Madam Spring’s mark was still clearly visible. 

As a thought struck him, he turned to look at the woman beside him, who had just rolled over to face him. He gasped in shock, exclaiming, “Averill?” 

Lying next to him was not Xena at all, but Averill. 

At the sound of her name, Averill opened her eyes, blinking innocently. 

“Oh, seems like the illusion spell wore off right on schedule,” she said casually. 

Felix was speechless. With Averill’s level of power, there was no way he could have detected her disguise. 

Averill sat up and playfully tilted Felix’s chin toward her. “Look at that expression! You’re acting like you got the raw end of the deal here.” 

Felix was exasperated and argued, “Averill, this isn’t fair.” 

“Do you think I wanted to give up my first time while pretending to be someone else? I had no choice! You fell for Madam Spring’s scheme and had to pursue Xena. 

“I needed to act before you actually won her over because once that happened, knowing your personality, you wouldn’t have touched me even if I threw myself at you.“, 

Realization dawned on Felix, and he said, “Damn it! So you were there lurking when Madam Spring showed up!” 

Averill looked away sheepishly. “I couldn’t help it. I’m no match for Madam Spring, and showing myself would have only made her angry.” 

Felix glanced at the clothes on the floor, confused. “Then, why are you wearing exactly the same outfit as Xena?” 

Disguises could change appearances, but clothing? That did not add up. 

“I was already here when Xena arrived around 8:00 pm with a bottle of wine and two glasses. When I saw her, I knew this was my chance, so I had someone rush to buy the
