Felix asked, “How much longer?” 

Jeffrey checked the time before responding, “About an hour and a half.” 

“I’m going to take a walk around. I’ll be back in an hour,” Felix said as he stood up. 

The Saphira family had only sent Jeffrey since this was supposed to be a fight between the younger generations. After all, the Crayden family would not dare try anything 

underhanded against Jeffrey. 

If that were to happen, it would inevitably lead to an all–out war between the families- something even the Elders‘ Council could not mediate. 

When they arrived, Felix detected the distinctive aroma of the rare medicinal herb Shadowroot. He remembered working with a similar herb when trying to cure Curtis, but that one had been harmless with a localized effect. 

The Shadowroot was different and far more dangerous, and even a minute of exposure could be fatal to an ordinary person. Doctors familiar with its properties would usually remove it from the area, even if they did not need it. It was to prevent it from accidentally harming innocent passersby. 

Following the scent, Felix found himself at a secluded spot in the hills, where he spotted a man crouched near the Shadowroot. He immediately called out, “Be careful!” 

The man turned to look at him, his face pale and sickly, giving off the impression of someone chronically ill. The man said, “Thank you for your concern, but I’m well aware of what this is.” 

Felix wondered if the man was also a traditional medicine practitioner, and he approached cautiously. However, he noticed that the man had already dug out the Shadowroot and carefully placed it into a cloth bag slung over his shoulder. 

“You’re poisoned,” Felix stated matter–of–factly after a quick assessment of the man’s condition. 

The middle–aged man laughed at Felix’s observation. “Impressive! You’ve mastered the art of diagnosis at such a young age–quite remarkable, indeed,” he remarked with genuine admiration. 

The man patted his stomach, his complexion growing even paler. He explained, “I poisoned myself deliberately. I’m researching an antidote–following in the footsteps of the ancient healers who tested herbs on themselves.” 

Felix’s instincts told him this man was an extremely skilled healer. Despite his sickly appearance, his eyes maintained a steady, calm gaze. 

Chapter 542 

“Sorry for the interruption,” Felix said as he turned to leave. 

The man suddenly called out, “Wait! I’m Lemuel Morris. May I know your name?” 

Felix was startled, realizing it was the legendary Lemuel, once ranked as Dragonia’s top master healer. He remembered how the government had desperately searched for Lemuel to treat Lionel’s illness, only to come up empty–handed.
