Felix took a deep breath. “You want me to meet that cold and unfeeling father of mine? Why?” 

“It’s true he brought you into this world but didn’t raise you. That’s his fault. But the fact remains–he’s the reason you exist. And he’s dying. Don’t you want to see him, even just once?” 

Felix didn’t hesitate to answer despite the fact that it was his mentor speaking. “No, I 

don’t.” 

Gerald sighed audibly. His tone was unusually serious and devoid of his usual humor. 

“Why make things so difficult? Victor isn’t faking his death–his condition is real. I examined him years ago. This calamity was written in his destiny, and even I can’t do anything about it.” 

Even Gerald couldn’t treat the illness? Felix was genuinely surprised. This was a first. In his experience, Gerald had never encountered a condition he couldn’t cure.
