welled up with tears. He would have preferred Felix to yell or curse at him irrationally. His calm attitude hurt more because it meant Felix saw him as a stranger. He could not even hate Victor. 

“I’m happy enough to have met you before I die.”

“It’s yours now, my child.” Felix accepted the Dragonspine. He planned to cultivate it after heading back.

“None of those words matter anymore.” For a child, nothing could be more tragic than being born to parents who had no intention of raising you. Felix was abandoned without hesitation.
