Felix kept buying snacks along the way since he really was hungry. Meanwhile, Ethan had to trail behind like a servant as he grudgingly paid for everything. 

When they reached a grand hall, Felix did not need to guess what it was. Ethan’s excited expression said it all. This was where the leader of Medic’s Haven was. 

“Want to bet you’ll be the one dying today instead? Just wait and see,” Felix challenged. Ethan scoffed at this absurd claim and followed Felix inside with a cold smile. 

The hall was lined with two rows of wooden armchairs, all occupied by elders. Edmund took the only empty seat. At the head of the room sat a middle–aged man. That was probably Jasper Blackthorn himself. 

“Mr. Blackthorn! This is Felix Zeller, the scum who attacked me in front of the law enforcement team and poisoned me in secret!” After his outburst, Ethan fell silent. He knew better than to speak out of turn before Jasper and the elders. 

While Jasper studied Felix silently, an elderly man slapped his armchair’s handle. 

As Ethan’s mentor, it was natural for Henrik Whitman to speak up first. 

Felix remained relaxed as he pulled out the satellite phone Xena had given him. “Lady Summers gave me this satellite phone. One press and she’ll know I’m in danger. Medic’s Haven may be powerful, but do you really want to challenge the Phoenix Warlord?” 

While Jasper continued his silent observation, Henrik spoke again. “Ha! True, we dare not offend the Warlord. She’s a government official, after all! But now that you’re here, we have plenty of ways to avoid suspicion of murdering you. Why else would we bring you here so openly?” 

Felix smoothly pocketed the phone and tossed his cell phone to Jasper. “Check my contacts list before you speak. If I didn’t have connections to someone important in your Medic’s Haven, I wouldn’t waste time like this.” 

Jasper caught the phone as several elders rose from their seats. “Such arrogance! Do you think you own this place?” 

“Connections to someone here? Who exactly?” 

“You’re young but full of hot air. No one can save you from what you’ve done!” Finally, Jasper spoke in his gravelly voice. “Impressive. The Warlord of the East, the Shadowdragon Warlord… These contacts are indeed remarkable–if they’re real.”
