Huxley relaxed slightly when the Rolls–Royce drove away, and the crowd began to thin. After all, everyone had at least one wealthy friend–this he could handle. 

‘Nelly, this little show doesn’t make Felix any more impressive,” Huxley mocked, pointing at the Lamborghini. “Anyone can rent a luxury car nowadays with some cash. So what’s your answer about tonight?” 

Before Nelly could respond, Felix pulled her inside the clinic. “There’s someone I want you to meet.” 

Huxley was furious but hesitated to act with George present, deciding to wait until the Lamborghini left before teaching Felix a lesson. 

“Mr. Gibson is frustrated he couldn’t make it back from abroad, but he arranged for a gift that should arrive soon,” George mentioned, referring to Ryan rather than Clement as Felix initially thought. 

Felix sighed. “Please don’t make arrangements like this without asking. If everyone shows up, how am I supposed to run a normal clinic?” 

Gray City and Avesburgh were about the same size, and news traveled fast in towns like these. If a new clinic opening attracted attention from influential figures, word would spread across the entire city in no time. There was no way Willow would not hear about it and that was the last thing Felix wanted. 

George scratched the back of his head nervously, sensing Felix’s disapproval. “Got it, Mr. Zeller. If something like this happens again, I’ll make sure to get your permission first.” 

Sitting off to the side, Nelly quietly observed George. Her instincts, which were rarely wrong, told her that George was not just anyone. He definitely was not a local, and his presence hinted at something bigger. 

Meanwhile, outside the clinic, Huxley was already gathering his crew again. Felix’s calm indifference earlier had infuriated him, and Huxley was not about to let it go. If Felix wanted his grand opening today, Huxley was determined to turn it into a shutdown. 

Just as Huxley ended his call to summon reinforcements, a sleek black Mercedes S500 pulled up. The rear door opened, and a sharply dressed young man with an air of authority stepped out. 

Huxley froze the moment he saw him, inhaling sharply through clenched teeth. “Mr. Gray? W–What is he doing here?” 

Kurt Gray was a name known to everyone in Gray City–the undisputed ruler of the underground scene. Despite his youth, he not only maintained but expanded his father’s empire after the old man’s sudden death.
