“Felix, come over here!” Clement called out excitedly when Felix stepped back into the 

room. 

Clement had every reason to feel overjoyed–Darcy was the apple of his eye, and since he and Willow could not have another child, it felt like the entire family narrowly escaped a brush with death today. 

Hence, to the couple, no amount of gratitude toward Felix could ever feel like enough, especially since they were hitting it off so well in conversation.

“Could it be Mr. Hoffman?” he muttered before answering.

Felix rolled his eyes. The old schemer only ever reached out when he needed something. 

“Mr. Hoffman, I’ve noticed something,” Felix said curtly. “Ever since I left the first Dragonspine in Canraville, every other one I’ve encountered wasn’t on the map you gave me–they’d already been taken. Were you just feeding me stories for fun?” 

Felix was not even interested in bringing up the Madam Spring fiasco. He thought arguing with Gerald was pointless.
