But Candace seemed fully prepared for this moment. She said calmly, “I wouldn’t dare say such things without proof. But I’ll only share it if the three of you remain. Everyone else must leave.” 

She pointed at Felix, Xena, and the Warlord of Thunder as the three she wanted to stay. 

“Fine,” the Warlord said coldly. “If there’s even a hint of a lie, I’ll make sure you experience true despair before you die. Everyone else, out!” 

Melissa, brimming with curiosity, gave Felix á pleading look, silently begging to stay. But Felix shook his head. Given the gravity of the situation, confidentiality was paramount. 

Finally, the clinic emptied, leaving only the four of them. The Warlord of Thunder glanced at Candace, who took a deep breath before speaking.

“Chaos is dead,” Candace said softly, her eyes filled with sorrow and longing. The depth of her feelings for her husband was unmistakable
